Well, I was new to the ppl calling Filipinos Flip so I put in my backpack FLIP PRIDE. This Mex dude came up to me and said YOU'RE FLIP? then he started laffing YOU KNOW THAT'S CALLING FILIPINO'S NIGGA? I was like, Wut? I know it's Flip.. you noe slang but how come people like him think that it's offensive to filipinos? I'm so confused. Help me PLEASE.

"flip" was derived from what americans called filipino soldiers in the spanish american war. it was a derogatory term, which is why people compare it to "nigger" for blacks. some filipinos are offended when they're called that. nowadays people think it's just short for "filipino", when there really is history behind it.
