What's with all of the advertisements in the Livejournal Help forum? Are they spam bots or regular members that are just spamming, and why does it only occur in the Livejournal forum?

Bots and it just happents that way. We tend to delete them as soon as we can or at least if someone's on. It's not a new issue, its been here for a while. So yea. If you feel that we are taking too long to remove it, then I guess you can report it.

I've noticed this a lot too. I know there have been threads about all the spammy advertising. They're usually deleted right when a staff member sees them. CB should come up with some filter so that the advertisers can't get through. pinch.gif

Spam bots usually target LJ help, yes. But not always.
There have been advertisments posted in Designer's cafe, as well as a few other places.

Maybe we should have a thing that blocks anyone with 0 posts to post a topic.
But then again, a lot of people who need help (with Myspace and such) would have to post in a few places before making a topic about their issue.
So idk if it would be the best idea. It would help get rid of spambots though. shrug.gif

They're deleted as soon as someone sees them. Anna's even made a sticky topic about this situation in LiveJournal help.

At this time, there isn't an automatic process in place to deal with all those ad/spam bots. :(

*They're being deleted as soon as someone with powers in those forums sees them.

Thank you everyone for answering my questions. I didn't notice the topic that Anna made in the Livejournal forum until Rebecca mentioned it. _smile.gif
