This is mostly due to incorrect billing, confusing fees, unexpected charges, and deceptive contracts. These can certainly add up, but I was shocked to learn that the most significant -- even devastating -- monetary damage can occur when your cell phone is lost or stolen.

Wtf, $16,000? That's crazy.
Why do people steal cell phones anyway? Is it because they want to have one but can't afford it?

Cell phone stealing was a pretty big problem at my old school... which is sad, because people attending the school tended to come from upper class families. I never really understood one's motive to steal cell phones when they already had one anyways, but whatever. :( I guess one who doesn't have a cell phone or has a really old model would have an incentive to steal. Thank goodness none of us ran into identity theft or huge billing problems !
