I'd have to say that I have no prefernce. I have a dog who acts like a cat and lays on the floor like a rock. But hey, I'm up for a what's better debate. I'm in the mood for one.

I'm sort of biased because I have a dog and I've always loved dogs. They're just personified as friendly and always happy and I like that attitude. Cats are more sophisticated and elegant and such "high maintenance"

i would say DOGS!!!!! they're friendly, alive, and sooo loving!!!!!! cats are spoiled and stuck-up... rocks are well boring.. i think its pretty obvious which one is better!!

Cat's high maintenance? All you do is feed them and let them outside! haha. I like cats and rocks. My rock ran away though. His name was Fluffy. I still have my kittens though!

No, like they make you work for their affection. I forgot what movie it was from. Dogs are always happy to see you if youl leave them at home by themselves, but cats make you work for their affection and it's a long process to gain their trust. Oh yeah, I think it's from Meet the Parents.

That's not like my cats. They're so cute. Two of the boys, Melvin and Willow, will acutally come up to you and greet you when you walk in. They're really sweet, but they can be a bit cold. We've had ours since they were babies though, so we've pretty much made them sweet.

Actually, I tend to agree about cats being less trustworthy than dogs. Had some strange experiendces with cats and their gaining-trust rituals... Yeah...they are cute though! ^_^

I have a dog and he's really cute. I wouldn't mind having a cat either. Pet rock is just...pointless, lol.

The reason the petrock thing came up was because I actually know some people who'd say they'd rather have a pete rock than a live and fuzzy animal.

By the way, cats, dogs and pet rocks aren't the only animals to discuss. Throw anything in the mix!

i think cats are less maintainance than dogs. they just lie and chill there, and you don't even have to pet them 'cause they'll rub themselves to a wall lol. they go to the cat liter by themselves, and cover up their poop by themselves - you don't even have to lift a finger to train them.

dogs, depending on how well trained they are, can range from low maintenance to very high maintainance haha, but dogs are great for security or really active playing.

a pet rock is the best of them all! rofl jk, pet rocks are boring ;x

i chose a dog. they dont sit there and be lazy. they are somewhat easy to take care of and can learn commands

Haha...Regina...great question. I vote for Pet Rock, because...well, you don't really have to tend to it too much, and it's great in its own right. Besides, dogs and cats don't always listen to you.

Yay we get to add other animals! There's a mule up the street from me that I want to steal and ride to school everyday, because it's cute. It's name is Ruth, but I call it Bill. And I want an elephant. I don't know what I'd call it, but I want one. I bet you that after I finish my 2 newest books I'll want a tiger (they're both about tigers). If I had a mule and an elephant though I could throw a political party.

dogs..im allergic to cats and rocks are dirrty..

as moody as cats are, i have a reason for liking them more than dogs. if you pet a cat for 5 minutes it is really content, if you stop it usually just lays there all happy. however, if you pet a dog for 5 minutes, it won't stop licking you (ew), not to mention that when you stop, it has a tendency to be ungrateful and nudge you until you pet it some more.. that never fails to anger me. lol that's just me though.

I love dogs more than cats! I personally think that cats are cold and hide from you alot... I tried to pet them and talk gently to them, but they bit and scratched me then ran away. Ltl ****a. . But on the other hand, dogs are understanding and actually cares for you, comes when you call ( if it's really tame ), gets stuff for you, and idk but they are just so adorable!

Dogs are better by far...i mean a dog will love you no matter what. Now Cats on the other hand...aside from being the drag queens of the animal kingdom....sux i mean they dont care if your not around it just sits there.....and all they do is lick them selves.....what is so entertaining about that.....and when was the last time you say a grown man wrestle around and rough house with his cat.....it just dont happen. Dogs rock. Oh yeah rocks are kool too.....mine tends to like to step on you feet when your not lookin and nibble on your toenails....i guess its a good way to keep them trim but its like whoa man your heavy.

i play with my cats. they're faster and more agile than my dog, not to mention quieter. they're quite entertaining actually. and i don't have to bathe them 'cause they lick themselves. i consider that a plus. they also catch any unwanted rodents in the house.

they also know not to scratch me ;] i could beat the crap out of them (not that i would) and they still couldn't scratch me haha. i guess it all depends on how they're trained. and yes, cats can be trained ;X

Of course cats can be trained! So can dogs (sort of...mine flunked out of obedience school) and pet rocks don't need training!

Am I the only person in the world who gets along with their cats? My cats are everything a dog could ever be and they smell better. One of my cats lets me spray him with the hose. If that's not cute I don't know what is.

I say the rock. One, it can't die. Two, I don't need to train it. Three, I can use my pet rock as defense.
