It doesn't make too much sense to ban a medical procedure that saves lifes because of purely moral reasons. I would understand a tighter regulation of D&X abortions since they are a dangerous procedure, but a ban of this order is plain nucking futty.

yeah. i don't see why the ban won't exclude mothers whose health is at risk. partial birth isn't a pretty procedure. the fetus is removed out of the womb before being killed. hence, "partial birth". damn... south dakota was also a blow to pro choice people.

Well.I was pleased by the ban.But i really dont see what thats going to do to help the prolife movement.

Or "The doctor hacked into my abdomen and uterus to deliver my child" in reference to a cesarean.

I think more people would be against it if it was called "pull the baby out of womb and crack its skull open, while sucking the brains out with a vacuum" would be a more accurate name, wouldn't you think?

Not really since I am fine with using the medical terms that define each step of the Dilation and Extraction procedure. Mainly because they are void of all sort of implications, and therefore are likely to be more accurate. Science can be like that, unemotional but precise.
I think this is fine, to be completely honest. I can agree where regular abortions would cause more and issue. They kill a fetus in partial birth, not an embryo. Nowadays, science has advanced enough for a mother to know if something's wrong with the baby, or the risk of her life if she goes through with the pregnancy/labor/delivery that there shouldn't be a need for partial birth abortions.
Not all of the fetus' illnesses that occur during a pregnancy can be detected during the first 2 trimesters. Furthermore, in those cases where an abortion is required during the last trimester (such as a fetus suffering from hydrocephalus), ID&X is the less intrusive abortive procedure, therefore it can be the safest.
Ultimately it should be a medical decision whether it is necessary to perform it or not. I don't trust Morality's clinic eye, it is rather myopic.
