my friend goes to school in nyc. his ethnic studies teacher is very pro black and is, from what he tells me, a bit racist. how do you deal with a racist teacher when you must write papers on touchy subjects, without offending them

furthermore, he told me he read an article where it said that there should be a law saying that you can't shoot people that rob you because they are a poor economic class and deserve to take what they need from you.

idk what your friend should do in a situation like that, Maybe just write the paper like he would if he teacher was anyone else, and hope that his teacher is biased towards grading it.

Maybe he should talk to his guidance counselor so he could go to another classroom.

I just sa write the paper and if the teacher gives him a bad grade because it`s not exactly HIS opinion, then complain. Teachers should be open-minded.

Yeah, they should be. If you feel that they're being biased against you or your paper, you're allowed to report that.
