I remembering hearing about this. I remember seeing interviews with him... he always seemed somewhat different.

End of an era, indeed. He's what inspired me to get into books. Not just read them, but completely engross myself in them.

I kind of believed his perception of death and time (minus the aliens) in Slaughterhouse-5. Does that make me crazy?
