My school is ~5 miles away from my house. *does math on phone* That's ~8 kilometers. I take the bus, like a 30-45 minute ride.
I don't know about other school systems, but NYC public schools are also suffering teacher shortages. Along with the hugeee class/school sizes, it's pretty bad.
