The chip image looks hilarious and really fun from the screen shot, but you have a tendency to overuse brushes and effects e.g., the border around the content boxes. And I think the navigation box is unnecessarily large; I think navigation tends to look better when it's discreet and subtle.

I don't think he meant those in particular , he probably meant with all your layouts in general. But if you never used brushes before or posted a previous layout I have no clue what he was talking about then.


Its an overall cute layout, but the brushes are overdone. The font looks ok, but the one by the actual cookie doesn't fit well. IMO. Its cute though.

Agreed... I like the color scheme, very cute... Kind of made me want a cookie

It's pretty cute, I like the colors. The edges of the cookie could be cut a little better, and I don't like the heart brushes at all (definitely overdone).
Also, the edges of the divs (about me, navi, pics, etc) kind of bugs me a little.
All in all, its a pretty good layout.

I wish you had a link to the live preview though. It would make it easier to critique.

the cookie is cute and the brushes just not content sections its the edges... (about me, pics comment, navigation)
background looks weird to the brown although the colors fit well together

LOL Toya, I'm a she. And I did mean in previous layouts and general brush use, rather than this set in particular.

Also, I did point out, like Amanda, and so did Kara (StanleyThePanda), about the lack of link. I know we've raised this issue before, but this is a Myspace showcase, so it seem a little redundant to be showing a layout without application of codes to the actual site? Otherwise your submissions would just be graphics?

Thirdly, it's not that I (I can't speak for anyone else), think I know everything, but you asked for opinion and constructive criticism and that's what I provided.

i can't judge ur layout the right way on a small screen shot alone... what about the coding? and other features to ur layout?

i dont want to start an huge disagreement, but come on why post and not maturely accept the feedback. Did you really think everyone was going to fall madly in love with this layout??

there are many issues i find with this, mostly already stated...you DID overuse your brushes! Yes, they're cool when we first get them, but there's a point when you have to realize what's enough and too much. The sides look odd pink...the x borders are too bulky...seems you used 2 different fonts, doesn't look nice because they are too big...you may have tilted the font intentionally, but it doesn't look that way. If you were to post this for others to use, in my opinion the "copyright" is too large.

There's a lot of people who post and have created many layouts and still realize that's there's more to learn and NOT everyone likes the same things.

Just humbly say, okay thanks for your input & I'll think about that...and mumble and be upset once u sign off.

I honestly find the font tacky. Heh. And.. pink with.. cookies? Then again, I don't find the concept very intriguing. I don't want to look at a MySpace and crave Chips Ahoy.

I don't think you understand them. When people say you "over use brushes in general" that usually means that all the layouts you posted or showcase have brushes overused. Whether or not you got them are not. In general doesn't mean this particular set of brushes, it means any that you have.

I can tell that you've had brushes prior to this layout by looking at your old posts. Every layout you posted in myspace showcase used brushes. That is what some of them are refferring too. An overuse of brushes, whether or not they are the ones in this layout or old ones.
