Still, it's a racist term.
Just because hes not a certain race doesn't mean he can't get offended.
I get offended if anyone says something racist, even if it isn't towards my race.

So? Just because he may not be black doesn't mean that he can't have some reaction to the term. How do you know that people in his family where never called that term? You obviously don't know much about him at all. And the fact that you are even asking this question is dumb. Just because someone isn't of the race that the term is being used as an insult to, doesn't mean they can't be affected.

What do i think? I think you should stop giving your school a bad rep by talking about racism there.

It is afterall a very offensive word. Whether he takes it to the heart or not, he could be offended that the person is using the term so lightly. Even if he is hispanic, that doesn't mean he has no reason for getting offended.

Because some people aren't stupid enough to think of themselves solely in terms of their own ethnicity, but instead dislike any and all racism.
If you think people ought to only be offended by racial slurs which affect them personally, you are incredibly narrow-minded and short-sighted.

Well the Dominican Republic and Haiti are on the same island. So its not unlikely that he may have black family members or some black in him somewhere down the line. I know a lot of Domincan people like that.

I'm trying to figure out who wouldn't be offened by it. I get offended myself about that word because it's something blacks fought so hard to overcome.
Since James already stated something that seems like it came directly from my own thoughts, I'll add this: It also offends me when black people say it to one another. I think that is one of the most ignorant things in the world. Their people were suppressed and tortured so that they would never be called that again and they sit there and call one another that. It really gets on my last nerve.
