What is the most crucial social issue that needs to be addressed in our nation?
Kathleen
The fact that our country is continuing on a downward spiral that leads to nothing good. mellow.gif

The war needs to stop and people need to come back home. Too much money is spent on it and people are out on the streets. I know this is a major issue but it's like people are ignoring it for some reason.

I don't really think this should be in news -shrugs-

I think war is a major issue. I also think that healthcare needs to be brought up sometime along the way. The people in America who do have health coverage, isn't that good. I agree that the troops need to come home... Bush shouldn't have cut the health care for soldiers. They're putting there ass on the line for this country and innocent Iraqis they least the government can do is thank them by giving them better healthcare.

More of a discussion than a news article or debate so I've moved it to The Lounge. _smile.gif

^ I have to agree. For our troops to be brought back home, and better heathcare. So many people out there have either little or no heathcare... its sad.

Word.

I actually talk about this a lot with people that I hang out with in the dorms. Everybody always says that if you want change, it has to begin with you. Sadly, I believe that America is beyond saving at this point. America is going to implode. It's like in Batman Begins (LOL) where things have to be destroyed before it'll get better.

Yes, there is the war, to be quite honest, which I haven't really paid much attention to--but I feel that we shouldn't be interfering with other countries when we don't even have our own act together. Our generation is the future, but our generation is also extremely apathetic and lazy as a whole. The greater bunch of people I've met in college would rather get crossfaded or set the record for largest flashmob ever than try and start fixing what's wrong with our nation. I'm a bit of a hypocrite for saying this, I realize, but awareness is the first step, I suppose.

In any case, listen to Lazyboy - Underwear Goes Inside the Pants, or at least look at the lyrics. Completely nails it.

Spirituality, easily.
We live in a country where a vast majority of people prescribe to fairytales to feel comfortable. Cure spirituality, and you can cure a people. Shit, adults are just big kids. It's awful.
Monochrome.
Homosexuality.
As much as the united states says they are open to it.They arent. They pulled a snickers ad from the super bowl because of the 2 men kissing.

Its still a taboo. And even if people dont like it,still has to be accepted.

I'm not talking just in our nation, but world wide. We need to get our priorities straightened up.

We got the one president getting paid significantly less than people from the entertainment department, id est, movie stars, music artists, comedians.

We got the pope over at Rome and other high "ranking" religious figures living in opulence from donations made from churches, where as the money could be better spent elsewhere. And you would think those kind of people would.

And bringing back up what Anna was talking about, we probably shouldn't be trying to fix other countries when we still have our own country to deal with.

By stupid presidents being elected, are you suggesting that we improve our election system?

No I was referring on how the hell did Bush become adequate enough to become president. mellow.gif

Ah ha ha. Yeah well, you gotta have some way to do that, so I thought you meant fixing up the election system.

The huge gap between the poor and the rich.

Sounds like something Robin Hood would say.

Would you rather have a communist country like China where everybody gets equal pay regardless of the profession? If some people have more difficult jobs that require more education, power to them to get more money like they should!

I know it may not be the most crucial social issue, but I just had to - I have to be biased every once in a while, eh? laugh.gif
