So while I was listening to Akon on my iPod, I realized that the chorus repeats like, five hundred million times. Seriously. I know choruses are often the best part of the song, but verses can be utterly magnificent, too.

SexyBack by Justin Timberlake is a major criminal tambien. Geeeeez. I mean, I definitely don't mind repeating choruses at the end of the song; that's completely normal and pretty standard for most songs. But some songs I swear could go on and on and on.

It's because they ran out of ideas and things to write about. Therefore, they will keep repeating it to make it sound cool.

Go 'head be gone with it... or something... idk that song.

There's a lot of country songs that do that and it's just kinda annoying. I mean, the chorus can be a great thing, but it shouldn't be the only part of a song.

It's a good song, but the chorus is so irritating half way through the song.

They want to make songs lengthy so it looks like they put a lot of effort per track. Ever notice the length of practically, ALL of Timberlake's songs?!

The record companies sell anything thats "cool" or atleast to them, as long as they make money recording one phrase and playing it back over and over and over and over...etc, Almost all music now is like that atleast anything "mainstream".

This is one reason why I don't listen to Justin Timberlake. His songs go on and on and I'd much rather prefer to listen to somthing more meaningful (not to mention, something I can actually understand). :P But I guess this is better than listening to crap that is added just for a rhyming effect.

Most commonly found in "mainstream" music. They use hooks a lot to get their song noticed, i.e. "I'm bringing sexy back," "drop it like it's hot," and the notorious, "ballin'!" Things you would hear kids at school just randomly saying.

In Hustle & Flow Terrence Howard was just rapping on the mic when Anthony Anderson finally told him that if he wanted radio play, freestyling the whole time just wouldn't work and that he would need a hook. (And if you asked me, it was then overused.)

That's why there's still underground.
