Apple tends to get a lot of flack about the fact that music purchased from the iTunes Music Store can only be played on an iPod, but Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, posted an interesting article that explains the reasons why—and, more importantly, why he is no fan of digital rights management (DRM).

In a nutshell, Jobs explains that Apple is under contract to protect the music company's music, which is why it is pretty much unable to license the technology. He condemns DRM, and urges concerned consumers to persuade the music companies to sell unprotected content.
