zomg. that book is incredible. i read it recently, and the experiences that this boy has to go through (extreme child abuse) are so mind-blowing that it seems unreal at times. the sequel - the lost boy - is really good too. anyone read either of them? just curious.

i heard that it`s a sad book. i want to read it, but haven`t gotten around to it.

other people were reading it; i finally decided to go to the library and check it out - and i'm glad i did.

oh and btw, i think it said it was the third worst child abuse case in CA. the other two kids ... i think they're gone. this guy managed to survive.

I hated that part when his mom stabbed him ..and he was describing what the wound looked like

I read a summary on it, and it sounded pretty good.

I read A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave all in my freshman year of high school. I remember that they became progressively less touching, so um.. read the sequels if you want to know what happens, but uhm.. I don't think I'll read them again. The content was heart wrenching, yes, but stylistically.. they were mediocre.

Yeah, you're right. I have yet to read A Man Named Dave, but The Lost Boy wasn't really as dramatic and ohmygod as A Child Called It, though it's still worth reading once.

I felt so bad for the boy in A Child Called It. Sometimes I had to put down the book because some parts made me go .

I remember in 5th grade, my friend was reading that book. A dean came over and took it again because she didnt want her to read it. o_O

omg all of his books about his life are amazingly sad the sad part is that he once had it happy and that all of a sudden BAM!!! ahh that was sad asss book :[

i cried so many times reading this book. i don't understand how a mother can do things like that to her own son.

i read this book just recently. i really couldn`t fathom all the abuse he got. i just can`t understand how a mother can be so cruel to her own child; how she can have so much hate for her own son. the weird thing about it though is that i didn`t cry at all when i read this, and usually i cry when i read books like these.

Omg i love this book. When i first heard about it..it seemed interesting but when i started reading it i couldnt stop. Its soo good and i feel so sorry for that little boy that had to go through all that abuse and it was based on the true story and the author is the actual kid that went through it. I just started reading the next book..and its also good. But i think child abuse is really wrong n no child should have to go through it.

Omg I remember that book. I read it when I was younger. It's very touching.

I loved this book! Isn't it by Dave Peltzer? Or something? I forgot, but I remember it was a very sad book. That mom was pretty damn cruel to Dave. I can't imagine ever living a life like him.

I read the first two. No matter how horrific his life was, I found the book repetitive. ._.

But I guess this did open my eyes to child abuse when I was young. shrugs*

I read the follow-up though.
And I loved it.
But I thought there was no reason to go back to the first book.
So I read the third.
The Man Named Dave or something really disappointed me.
It was SO boring I never finished it.

I read this book back in the 8th grade and I couldn't stop reading. The books intense, but it's good.
