You're in a difficult position with your faith? You shouldn't question your faith. But I'd say Jesus, and that portrait says a lot. Such as; even though Jesus is in the manner (dirty-looking), that does not mean he's a bad person. The whole point of the portrait is probably, in my opinion, "looks can be decieving".

Jesus; although he looks broken, he still has power; and although he does not choose to reveal it at this time, he does at a later time. His silence speaks volumes. [if that has anything to do with the painting...]

Anyways, you shouldn't question your faith if keeping it or not depends on random people's perception of a painting. To me, it doesn't sound like you were very faithful to begin with.
