As for the animation, they probably used a video camera and recorded the normal clips. For the special animations, what they most likely did was draw, record, pause, draw, record, pause...You get what I'm saying? In other words, they paused the camera and recorded the drawings several times. Thus, creating an animation.

yeah, looks like a regular video camera to me O.O
