^I never knew that was a play, que buena.
I was in charge of the stage lights for the productin of
Snow Angels in December which was like, the best job everrrr. Not only was it so much easier than memorizing lines (I had a script in front of me the whole time), but I had a view that usually only the Director would have.

In March I'll be playing Helena in
A Midsummer Night's Dream. Oh, joy.

My school is also doing West Side Story, and it's coming out in the spring. I'm the head of Production, in charge of overseeing sets, lights, audio, actors, and all that backstage stuff. It's good experience, since I'm planning on going into Co-op for television production next year.
I might have a speaking part in the next play, as children would also not want to be subjected to my gorgeous vocal skills.

Aww, dude, you're gonna have so much fun... I wanna do it again.
Oh, and just a tip, make sure the makeup people realize that there ARE some old people in the play (well, one, Shrank isn't really old), and have stuff on hand to grey hair. Our guys didnt get that, so we ended up dumping a load of foundation in my hair, which turned to a lovely paste when I tried to wash it out.

When I went to public school, we did "Once Upon A Mattress" (modern and funny version of the fairy tale, Princess and the Pea).
I was part of the pit orchestra, playing the solo oboe part on my violin.
Does that count?

That's the classic. I wish my school had a play going on. But we haven't had one since...October.

Actually, I haven't tried out for the part yet. During all school plays, I always make it as Narrator, because I have the loudest voice & I memorize pretty quick.

I might try out for a main role this year, though. Haha, Juliet? Maybe...

My school is doing the Magic Flute: Reloaded. Auditions are in March, though. I want to get the part of the Queen, which is the main female role. I think I have a pretty good chance.

*Cringes while trying to imagine the paste* haha thanks, I'll relay that to Makeup. What were the biggest problems with West Side Story when you did it (goes out the everyone)? Dance rehearsals are killing me, I think the Assistant Director might want to rethink her choices! My school takes the plays pretty seriously, which is why we have only one per year, with three back-to-back runs, and they treat it like "a real theatrical production!" (according to the programs.) And I thought Grease was hard last year. Although the dancing in West Side Story is pretty demanding. But West Side Story is a lot of fun. :)

Well, this wasn't WEst Side specific, but our entire sound board crashed 10 minutes before curtain-up on opening night, s owe had no mics, no nothing... then 1 minute before, it went up again.
The biggest problem we had was at the start of America, it is REALLY hard to ensure that Rosalia's timing is in with the band... a couplke of times she had to start singin in the middle of her line because the speech before is long-ish... rehearse that to death...
Oh, and make sure that the backgorund characters are frigging ACTING. West Side has to be full of life or it wont come off... even if they dont have a speaking part, get everyone dancing, smiling, showing off, flirting, all that jazz. energy, energy, energy!
Oh, and a minor point, but in the scene at the end, when Doc has to slap Tony, MAKE SURE tony wears hi smic on the same side of his face every night, because the guy playing Tony in ours randomly swapped it round on enight, so I went to slap him as rehearsed, and then the mic was there, so I bitch slapped a ratehr expensive piece of equiptment, which made just a LOVELY noise. lol.

Right now I'm in a play called Check Please, pt. 2.... it's a one act... and the straight play is going to be Much Ado About Nothing.

Hmm, 2 years ago I was doing the remixed version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Eh, I know, a bit babyish. But the drama club changed the setting into modern day and the title became Snow White and the Seven Ings. The Dwarfs were called Ings because of their names...Daring, Crying, Caring, etc.
This year, however, my school's doing High School Musical. =D
I can't wait to see it.
