What do you give up for your sport? Do you think it's worth it?
MiSSxMELON
I don't really give up anything for my sport [tennis] except for time. I mean, I miss a lot of school for tournaments and stuff. But I don't really consider that sacrificing anything. It's definitely worth it.

I had to give up Journalism cause tennis tournaments had me leaving early for school. Oh well, I'd rather do tennis. I had to give up other sports for tennis too...I was a swimmer.

How ironic...I'm in journalism and tennis, too. Well, tennis doesn't force me to drop journalism; I manage to skip practices whenever we have a major deadline.

I didn't really have to give up anything for baseball.

i guess i give up a lot of my time and dedication during cross country and track season. also, my pre calc class. because we always have meets on thursday afternoons and im always missing 6th hour.
MeowGurl
I had to give up most of my time, hanging out with my friends, and my only AP class. it was kinda worth it (the AP class), but not so much the friends part sad.gif

I give up having any sort of life outside the studio, I'm there at least 4 hours a day, six days a week. 8 hours on saturdays. My joints and muscles are beyond screwed up from ballet. There's no hope of a normal sense of body image either, but it's all worth it.
misoshiru
i gave up my social life 1st semester of college for crew.

i gave up:

my best friend since 2nd grade,
a trip to the philippines,
multiple family parties,
lots of leisure time,
trips to disneyland,
a speaking part in the school play,
an A in English (if i had more time to do homework, i often sacrificed my english homework. i currently have a C.),

and i'm in between social groups (my cheer friends and my theater/choir friends), so I basically don't feel like i have any close friends since i don't really like the people on my team, and i can't hang out with my theater friends since i'm at cheer.

that's all i can think about right now...

and considering we basically fell on our face at competition in Florida (which we traveled all the way from California to go to.)

no. not worth it.

I'm not in any sports this year, but my school is very sport oriented. We have a ton of state first place trophies. I never understood why people would physically get hurt so many times and still play the sport. That's a sacrifice, right? Sacrificing your health? One of the girls I know has broken so many bones and even dislocated a vertebra in her neck and was in a neck brace, yet still had plans on playing again.
Mr. Slowjamz
its up too you . and it seems like your infatuated with your sport you should continue it .
MrStrife
A lot of time and energy. Also, it sucks seeing people pass by even when they're doing nothing because you want to chill too. But whatever, I'm going to a champ.
bpgoalie24
ive gave up 2 hours of my day just to get to hockey practice
goodcharlotte
I give up my summer for football and then I play a sport every season so it doesn't get any better. I end up starting football as soon as school ends. I miss a lot but I still have some free time so it's not all that bad. Kinda worth it I guess.
Jeng
I give up work just to play softball, I loveee it.
BTW I hate working where I'm working.
synthase
i gave up violin lessons for tennis

Internet and homework time.

Time is a big one. After school I stay after for 3 hours every day during x country and track season. Then there's the meets, too. And when we travel out for exchanges, I miss 1-2 days of school + an entire weekend, sometimes.
Is it worth it? Yup. _smile.gif I've made friends in the team so it's not like I'm socially depressed. Plus... as long as I manage my time well, all my hw gets done and my grades are still up.
laxumaster8
well, i do a lot of tennis...i guess i just have less time with friends

alexaridesacrf
I had to give up playinf softball, which I played for 10 years, and I was pretty good, for motocross. It just took up too much time, and I couldn't halfass anything. I don't get to see my mom the weeks and weekends we're gone for races, because she doesn't go.
austinoutloud
hmmm.
what do i give up for swimming.
well during the winter (school team)
i give up having any after school life at all.
and during the summer (club)
i give up slepping in.
waking up at 630 to swim is not the best feeling.
it also seems that whenever anyone is doing anything,
i have a meet.

"i can't, i have swim practice"

I actually give up alot, and through the years have come to call the sport my life. Tennis. I play tennis 4-6 hours a day. I have five sisters that I don't get to see very often because of my busy schedule, and also because I travel allllllot to tennis tournaments. I have moved from across the country for the competition. I have also given up my whole entire social life...and I'm not exaggerating really. I am homeschooled and with school and tennis I have perty much no time for friends in all exact late after like now...
Is it worth it? Yeah. I love it. And I'm giving the professional tour my best shot. I would never be happy or content without knowing how far I could go professionally.
31miracles
sacrifice for sports
my time
but most painfully, my body
I have a little ballish bump in my chest from a year and a half ago when I got took a charge/fall in basketball. I should have went to the ER, but I decided to toughen it up, because it was a close game, the other team pissed me off, and the girl I liked was watching. So I played through the pain of a broken rib for 45 minutes. The after the game, I pretend I wasn't hurt, so I could go celebrate. The truth was, there was a huge black and blue mark and I had trouble breathing. So I said nothing about the pain until a week later when it was unbearable, got a xray, and found out I indeed broke a rib. The doctor said I came in to late, and the bone already started to naturally heal. The broken end smoothed off and therefore that's my little bump. I have one more bone than you guys =].

When I played volleyball all I did was give up hours of hard work.
Pumpx3itup
hahah I sacrafice being able to walk after a game.
I have really bad tendonitus in both knees and an ankle
and I alwasy have little injeries. Right now im out of soccer for the rest of the season because I got kicked in the knee and its messed up. THAT WAS NOT WORTH IT considering we still lost ouur game but everything else is worth it now at least when i get older i might regret it.
