I know there are lots of people on createblog who like Asian Dramas.*did search like a good rule abidding person* And I've recently gotten way into them. (Btw, the closest topic to this one was asian shows)

Which are your favorite:

Japanese drama:

Chinese drama:

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?):

Taiwanese drama:

Korean drama:

And which ones you recommend to watch.

I really have to say that I haven't watched that many (I have been watching Chinese and HK for a long time but recently I've gotten into other types).

I loved "Hana Yori Dango" (Japanese) and "It started with a kiss" (Taiwanese) but I can't pick from Chinese and HK, I've seen too many. I've only seen one korean one "Which star are you from". That's why I wanted to ask which ones you recommend because I'm such a noob newbie to asian drama.

Taiwanese Drama: Devil Beside You
Korean Drama: Full House

^ I'd recommend watching those. _smile.gif

Description on Full House:
A naive, cheerful albeit, somewhat of a recluse writer, Han Ji Eun (Song Hye Gyo) is swindled out of everything she owns. Not by strangers, but her best friends! Stranded in another country, she is determined to get home with the help of an actor, Lee Young Jae (Bi), only to find that all which is precious to her has been sold. In an attempt to get her possessions back, she has entered in a contract marriage with Young Jae. It is quite simple, until feelings start to develop. Everyone around them test the "love" Young Jae and Ji Eun have for one another, including Young Jae's grandmother.

In spite of it all, Ji Eun manages to be humorous and endearing - even when her heart is breaking.

Japanese drama: I haven't watched very many, but I heard a Litre of Tears is good. My friends have been watching Death Note as well. And since you're already watching Hana Yori Dango, I guess I don't have to recommend that to you.

Chinese drama: I don't think I've watched any. Haha.

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?): Actually, I don't think I've watched much HK dramas, either.

Taiwanese drama: Silence, Hana-Kimi (It's still running), Devil Beside You, It Started With A Kiss, At Dolphin Bay, MARS, Meteor Garden (Classic), Love at the Aegean Sea, The Hospital [These are just favorites]

Korean drama: Love Story at Harvard, Stairway to Heaven, Full House

I really recommend Silence, At Dolphin Bay, & MARS. If you want something a bit less serious, try Hana-Kimi or Devil Beside You. Of course, I recommend all those Korean ones too (they are amazing). I'm about to start a new one myself (Goong). Oooh, and I'm about to start A Love to Kill, as well.

Yeah, uh, I'm an Asian Drama dork. :[
Tribal J_Rome
I recommend Attitudes and Feelings, Both Desirable and Sometimes Secretive.

minioligo mentioned this too but, Love at the Aegean Sea!
It's the first drama I fell in love with.
Honestly.
mono_logue
anything humorous
i'd recommend these korean dramas
-My Girl
-Goong
Just_Dream
Japanese drama: Hana Yori Dango / Kimi wa Petto

Chinese drama: ? I have't watched any yet

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?): ? Didn't know they had dramas

Taiwanese drama: Devil Beside You - It's pretty good!

Korean drama: My Girl, Stairway to Heaven, Autumn Fairytale

I recommend korean dramas because they're really...emotional! My Girl was voted best in 2005, I believe. Stairway to Heaven made me cry in like, every episode! T_T Winter Sonata was good. I didn't think Full House was as funny as My Girl, was it it was pretty cute.

Love Story in Harvard was alright... It was pretty sad, but I didn't like how they came to America. I mean, they guy couldn't even speak English very well at all. It was like he was struggling so hard. I think they could've gotten a better actor to play the main guy. But the girl, who starred in Stairway to Heaven as well, is a sensation actress. She played the part really well and speaks English perfectly, too! Plus, she made me HATE her in Stairway to Heaven because she was SOOOOO mean! That's how good an actress Lee Tae Hee is!

well the only japanese dramas i've seen are hana yori dango, and currently watching hana yori dango II...still running.

taiwanese dramas i've watched:
meteor garden I (a classic...it's what got me started to watching tw dramas..)
meteor garden II
mars thumbsup.gif (one of the best dramas in my opinion...i think it's MY favorite. about romance and a little suspense.)
devil beside you (it's a cute drama...similar to it started with a kiss.)
silence (a really good drama. it's very sad though. cry.gif get some tissues. )
tokyo juliet (this one is okay. it dragged a lot though and it's kinda unrealistic. so i DO NOT recommend this one)

i heard Bump Off Lover was really good.
Recognitions (from d-wiki):
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Screenplay
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Supporting Actress
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Sound Effect

I agree! I also recommend Korean Drama - Jumong. Even though it takes place in the olden days and it's long, it's good.

Gigi
Korean Dramas:
- Full House
- Goong
- My Girl
- What's Up, Fox?
- My Lovely Kim Sam Soon/My Name Is Kim Sam Soon
Generally speaking, watch the funnier, more light-hearted K-dramas. They're much less depressing than the really dramatic ones.

I don't really watch any Japanese/Taiwanese/Chinese dramas. I do watch HK dramas, though, but most of them aren't even worth watching, so don't download them.
moninja
Korean drama:
My Girl, My Lovely Sam-Soon (also called My Name Is Kim Sam-Soon), Autumn In My Heart (Autumn Tale), Stairway To Heaven, Winter Sonata, Wonderful Life, Full House, Goong, and Love Story At Harvard.

um, i only saw like two of them, but the others were some that i heard were pretty good.
laurie_
HK: i like a lot.. been there too long
Taiwanese: i kinda liked 愛情白皮書 (aka Tomorrow) it was a long time ago & Meteor Garden
Korean: Full House, Dae Jang Geum, My Lovely Sam-Soon & Autum Fairy Tale

I want to see the movie Oldboy, too. Has anyone seen it?
issey miyake
oh how vain this will sound but only reason why i prefer watching korean dramas over any other because they usually have better looking people in them.

i really enjoyed my name is kim sam soon, delightful girl chun hyang, and goong.
Gigi
^ Agree. The Korean girls are so pretty, it's unbelievable. Look, if you're going to spend 16 hours watching a drama, and you could pick between an ugly Chinese female main character, and, say, Song Hyekyo, who would you choose?

Obviously, the pretty Korean girl.
issey miyake
LOL SO TRUE.. and usually theres a decent looking guy. i tried watching love contract but i really couldn't stand looking at ariel lin.

oh i forgot to add another reason why i have love for kdramas is for the OST's.
salcha4u
^ x2 Yeah, and it's ridiculous to see an ugly asian girl cry.

Same here, I watched mine in YouTube.

I totally heart that movie, Hyun Bin is HOT and the girl is CUTE.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the story goes too fast, but otherwise it's REALLY GOOD.
issey miyake
GUESS WHAT I'M WATCHING NOWWW. first episode of my girl. i love lee da hae's facial expressions

fell out of the drama addiction a while back but i hope to jump back on it
Gigi
^ Lee Dahae is HILARIOUS in My Girl. I love how she lies to get what she wants. Oh, and I loved how she spoke Mandarin in the first episode. That was pretty awesome.

Btw, Lee Dongwook is pretty good-lookin'.
Nugget
WHAT IS DRAGGGG? lol . ><

i`m watching stairway to heaven now & almost donee. it`s so cute & exciting, but damn, those girls are bitchyyy. the stepsister eyes are BUGGY when she`s mad, but i do think she`s pretty. i don`t like how they cry so much & how they say like, "i wanna see himmm. cry.gif" and then "NO, GET OUT!" yeah, you knoow? asdfksdhjaflk. don`t mind me. don`t bitch, either, lol. ;[[[
issey miyake
^ lol

i couldn't take it after five episodes of stairway to heaven. maybe because i started dramas a little later than everybody else and stairway is kind of old. i felt like they rushed everything and it was going to become dragging so i lost interest. but definately kim tae hee's character was the most conniving evil biatch i've ever seen in all the dramas.. besides the boss guy in delightful girl chun hyang.

heard she was good in love story in harvard tho. have yet to watch that because i don't find rae won to be all that attractive.

AND GIGI I THINK HE IS HELLA CUTE TOO HAHA.
Laughsalot
in vietnam people really like dramas. like chinese, korean, japanese. whatever. it's like all in the original language(ex. japanese drama in japanese) but than they insert vietnamese in it. i don't really understand all of it. so i can't really recomend anything.
datass
DEVIL BESIDE YOU FTW

KDRAMAS! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HOT KOREAN GUYS, WHY!

soooo yes I have watched a handful of korean dramas, though all their storylines are extremely predictable.

"OH NO I HAVE FINGER CANCER!"
"LET ME SACRIFICE MY LIFE BY CUTTING OFF MY FINGER AND DONATING IT TO YOU THUS PROVING THE DEPTH OF MY LOVE FOR YOU"

..etc
NewUsername
Yeah, but the eyecandy makes up for the lousy plots.
