I sprained my finger, and it's been a WEEK and it still doesn't feel better.

I'm a pianist. I have a concert on wed and I'm working on thurs (playing in a restaurant) and a HUGE frickin' exam next week (biggest one yet) and university auditions the week after. It hurts like HELL when I play, especially big pieces.

I'm too scared to go to the doctor because I don't know what the hell they're gonna do to me.. what if they say it's broken or something?! Although I don't think it's broken.

How can I make it better? I put ice on it.. does not help. I'm FREAKING OUT! Help :( (it's my pinky)

try putting a sprint on it or tape it, you can get one at a pharmacy
-Ice the injured finger
-Elevate if there is swelling
-Take an anti-inflammatory medication
-Gently move the finger to prevent stiffening

I think you should've gone to the doctor when you sprained your finger.
You said it's been a week and it still hurts like hell.
WEll, to be honest and don't thing it'll be much better till wednesday. _unsure.gif

When I had sprained my leg it took me almost a month. pinch.gif

Go to the doctor:aniwink: . He'll just have a look and he'll tell you what u should do.

I think you should insist on putting ice on it. It usually helps a lot.

and follow Melissa's advice.

I suggest just going to a doctor and let him check it out, he'll give you the best advice you could recieve to make it better. Could you still play if they put a bandage on it?

My dad dislocated something like 30 years ago and never went to a doctor about it. And just a couple months ago it started really, really, really, really hurting him and they had to do all this surgery and shit when if he had told them before all they would've had to do was put on a cast.

now is the time to go see a doctor.
if it really is broken..im sure youd rather have it eamined than break it even more.

my friend broke her middle finger early last week and she can still move it. so yours may be broken, too.

f**k.

Ok, I'll go to the doctor.. But if they put a cast on it, I'm screwed.

I knew I shouldn't have played octaves for 3 hours after four days of not practicing. I'm stoopid.

console.gif I'm glad that you're going to the doctor though. Because if you don't get it fixed it could heal wrong or effect you for the rest of your life *dunn dunn dunn*...
Seriously, though, let us know what they say.

If you haven't gone to the doctor yet, telling him your situation might also help.

Even though you are scared you should consider really going to a doctor.

put some "chinese" lotion on it
it really works

if it is indeed broken and you can't play with that finger, rearrange the fingering to compensate that.
