and im like err we broke up coz of him

Anyways, if you want to get together and he does too, then get together. If you don't, then don't. It's really just that simple I guess.

Errrrmm I might be able to say from your ex's point of view though..

Perhaps it seemed to him like you were crowding in on his time..
Maybe after getting the space he needed he realized he missed you
and being with you and asked his friends to try to piece you two up?

It's just a thought because I know way back then after breaking
up with one of my ex's I missed the person horribly..
Not to the point I'd try getting my friends to get them back
with me though.. I knew I didn't deserve to be with them
at that point by foolishly throwing what we had away!

Back to your situation. It's all up to you, sounds like
if he doesn't have the balls to ask you out and if you
don't want to go back there then maybe you should
try to forget the whole thing? Chill with some girlfriends or something.
