What is my earliest thought of a phony? Barbie. A cold, hard, shiny creature made in factories. Machine crafted and eventually purchased for most young girls, and perhaps a few boys. So, why is she considered such an icon? With such flawless features, perfection such as hers would be difficult to achieve. Yet, girls in this lifetime think it’s possible to become her; dying their hair to match hers, tanning their fragile skin till they bake, or purge/take laxatives to become perfected. Technically, this so called, “Perfect Individual” has actually had negative influence on girls like myself; telling the female population that it’s sin to look like anything but Barbie. And, that is fake.
