I just don't know...

I live in the UK, we may be behind America a little bit...

But I always thought it was another name for Emo, basically.

But if you say that to anyone they bite your head off! ohmy.gif

And I have a friend who is fairly emo, and on MySpace someone else who is pretty well emo told her off for being a "stupid scene kid".

(Also, why do emos complain like "it's not fair to hate us because we're emo" and then have a go at scene kids in the same way?)

Yeah. WHAT IS SCENE?

Cheers.

I hate the word emo. But I guess I'll try to explain "scene".

Bows, tight pants, extensions, loads of layers in their hair, etc. etc. Scene is just a type of fashion. Has nothing to do with 'Emo' in my opinion.

Is the fashion similar to that of emo clothing?

Someone said it's like a "more colourful emo".

Cheers. It's starting to make sense now.
think!IMAGINARILY
All I can think of right now is someone who wears Vans and tight jeans, and has stick-straight, choppy hair in front of their eyes.

You can check Urban Dictionary for some more definitions:

In my opinion it has NOTHING to do with 'Emo'. Emo is a type of genre of music. Never a type of fashion.

Skinny kids who go to Raves.

Well, music DOES impact your fashion.

Music develops fashion to accompany it.

Grungers? - Grunge = a type of music.

Most "grungers" don't even like that kind of music, but the fashion tends to stem from the music and then split off from it, if that makes sense?

So emo IS a style of clothing/dress now, although it originated as a genre of music.

I don't understand why people must label, myself, but when someone is calling me "scene", or telling me off for trying to be "scene", I like to know what the hell they're talking about...

Ugh. Here is an example of scene. The most infamous Audrey Kitching. Scene=Fashion.

I also really don't get how music effects your fashion for some reason. explain?

so if someone was fat and went to a rave, they wouldn`t be considered "scene"?

A lot of people - not everyone, but some - idolise bands/artists. Pick up on their style and imitate it. Sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously.
voguelove
it's a more intense emo.

more..everything really.
aznxdreamer
scene is that do-it-your-own-chopped-up-hair. little pinks bows. skinny jeans. and taking pictures of yourself to show off on myspace. emo is slowly turning into "goth". basically saying they're depressed emotional people. hence the whole cutting thing
SMiLEEFORMEE
it really has nothing to do with emo. i guess it has replaced "emo" in a sense but in the end they're all just labels. but basically "scene" kids are made out to be obnoxious, wear bright colors, kiddy clothes, hair accessories like bows, tight/skinny jeans, leggings, crazy colored & messy hair, loads of makeup, listen to similar types of music like screamo, etc.

but really, i hate all lables even though it's hard not to point at someone and say oh they have a preppy, ghetto, scene, etc. style.. i try to avoid it as much as possible

hxc? sxe?
blah. i wouldn't know. i'm not scene anyway. i'm too gay to be scene. hah.
LOWinSKANK
ehhh. i think dress like that but i`m not scene. but then again i don`t have that DIY hair. just the bows &jeans &kiddie stuff. that`s just me & i never get called "scene". emo maybe like ONCE but that`s coming from people who wouldn`t have a clue in the first place.
i would describe my style as fruity.. haha.
showstopper!
Don't admit to be scene or anything. That just makes you more of a poser. :x

not exactly. my friends are skinny & go to raves and they are most definately NOT scene.
lightsabersavvy
it is pretty much a brighter side of the 'emo' trend.
