is there a code to align the xanga ad to the left/right?

Any code moving/editting/removing the Xanga ad will risk a deletion of your xanga site.

They asked to align the Xanga ad, not remove.

I know in your looks and feel page, you can change your page alignment to the center or to the left - that moves the ad as well. I'm not sure for the right side.
