I'm really worried for my friend because her boyfriend is mentally abusing her and telling her that he will commit suicide if she breaks up with him. She still wants to stay with him and work out his issues but he won't open up to her and continuously insults her everytime she tries. He does open up to us, her friends, which is confusing because we're not close to him at all. He's been trying to make her feel guilty and trying to pin all of his emotional damage on her. She's trapped in this relationship and I don't want her to be emotionally scarred if he does commit suicide.
We've already alerted the dean and he's on suicide watch. We're only in high school and he's been drinking and taking pills to take away "the numbness" he feels. His parents know about his wanting to commit suicide and he thinks they don't care. Whether that's true or not, they're not taking any action and I don't think they ever will. What are our options?

Wow.

First off, good job on telling the dean. It's good that you told someone, especially an adult.

Maybe you should have your friend talk to his parents? Intervention maybe? Or you & your friend can talk him into seeing a counselor?

Yes, he should get counseling and see doctors to see about the pills, if he's getting the correct dosage or not. I hope your friend and her boyfriend will be all right.

Take your friend and divert her focus elsewhere. Slowly lessen her attachment to him. The guy's going to kill himself one of these days, there's no stopping it. The only thing you can do now is to try to do damage control.

She's going to try and get a counselor to talk to both of them and if it doesn't work out, she's dumping him. I can't help but think that everything is going to end horribly.

Psh. school adults dont care, imo.

^ yeah they dont. =/

i think you should tell your friend to talk to his parents. if he keeps doing that, i suggest you to just call the police before he tries to PHYSICALLY abuse her.
