Sexual Immorality

1 Corinthians 6: 12-13

ok i go to roman catholic schools- im now a sophomore in a catholic high school- they told us about a billion times that masturbating is a sin

I agree completely with hangooksaram... He's got it down with the masturbation being a sin. Masturbation, lust, want, they are all sins, they are all pleasures of THIS world and will have their due punishment without repentance.

Almost everyone in the world lies... that's a sin. Just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it okay. The Bible is VERY clear about sexual sins. There is nothing wrong with sex IF it is within a holy, faithful, and abiding marriage between one man and one woman. However, acts of fornication (sex outside of marriage), adultery, lust, homosexuality, and other such acts are SIN. Wow, probably none of us are going to be able to go through a whole life without sinning... so the only path back to God is repentance big shock eh? Seems like it is from the way some of you are talking.

no, PREmarital sex is a sin. and it doesnt say in the bible, "YOU CAN'T MASTURBATE" but it still is a sin. WHY? because i doubt anyone in here doesn't masturbate without thinking LUSTFUL thoughts. Thinking lustful thoughts IS a sin. and "why do half the people in the world do it?" because half the people in the world DONT know that it IS a sin. Just because half the world does it doesn't mean that it's not a sin. Half the world is obviously sinning right now then. and whats with this "oh, guess i'm going to hell" thing? masturbating has JUST the same value as a sin if you tell a lie, or you curse someone out. It's the same thing. Sin is sin, no greater value, or no less. Just because you commit murder, doesn't mean your going to hell. If you ask for forgiveness for commiting murder, and truly mean that, and if you accept Jesus as the leader of your life, then your not going to hell. Same thing with masturbation. If you ask for forgiveness to God MEANINGLY, and make an effort not to do it again, and if you do accept Jesus as your savior, your not going to hell. Our God is a forgiving God after all..and the entire point of Jesus' crucifixion was to forgive us. It would be a waste if we all thought "hey, i jerked off, im going to hell."

Masturbation is only a sin when it takes away from a relationship. Example 1. A married couple are trying to have children. The wife is ready to concieve the child but can't because the husband maturbated.

In teenagers it is not a sin because hormones are flying like crazy so it isnt healthy to try to suppress it.

But if your really worried about sin, I think god would rather have you masturbate then have sex with anyone that isnt your partner

take it from me (catholicXcore) it IS a sin, according the the catholic church even condoms are sin. the ONLY time you are supposed to orgasm is when you are unprotected with your wife with the intent of making a baby.

then again, it is healthy, so its really just a personal choice of whether you want to follow the church 100% or not. personally i do it cus i dont want prostate cancer (or maybe its just a good excuse?)

That may be true, but the question is if it is a SIN by biblical terms. Killing spirits is a sin. They believed that spirits were in the sperm. It doesn't become a human when it meets the egg, when the egg has developed and has become a fetus, there is the beginning of your human. Sperm is DNA, I agree. Masturbation is a sin from a biblical view because you're murdering spirits.

And once again, here is the downside of coming here to debate: the immature little children who cannot see anyone else's point but their own. I am a firm atheist, and you cannot prove this without using the bible, you cannot prove this scientifically. The whole question was if masturbation was a sin, and a sin is theologically a disobediance with God. How will you involve God in a debate without using the bible?

Hmmm ok actually it is a sin. SOme guy named Oscar stopped me on the street cause I was wearing a shirt that said "Masturbation Isn't a Crime" and he had to tell me that it is a sin though. It is written in the bible somewhere I think corithians or however you spell it. But it is a SIN according to some religions. But it is unhealthy not to do so. ::shrugs:: Religion is a very tricky subject but if you want to get technical God already knows we will do it so he can't get to mad at us if he made it possible then he knew we would and so he will either allow it or forgive you for it.
