from time to time, i get this random itching, or "tickling" on one side of my throat, and i get this HUGEE urge to cough..only after i do cough, it stays. so bascially i have to keep coughinng and coughing until it finally goes away. which is like 2 or 3 minutes later. and its relaly emabressing esp at school if your coughing for a couple minutes straight and its a study hall or a test especially. i found out that if i drank water it went away, so i always keep a bottle of water in my bookbag in case it happens. well it happened during science today and so i drank some water and it didnt go away! it was the worst "attack" i had had, and my face got all hot, i started sweating, and i just gulped down water. i litterally had to clamp my mouth shut to force myself to stop and i was gagging so hard i like, jerked forward each time. it usually doesnt happen to much but then it happened at the end of the day again and i had to go to the bathroom and just keep coughing until it went away.

does this happen to any of you? or how can i stop it?

yea that's happened to me before, i usually have cough drops with me and it usually helps after a while. i also drink a LOT of water constantly. btw you just have a cough ur not having a cold too?

well right now i have a sore throat, so i get it more often, but even if im like, fine, i sometimes get it really randomly.

i think i tried cough drops and they didnt work :[

I probably would go see a doctor if that happens all the time....

Whooping cough? I dunno. Google 'uncontrollable coughing,' or something. But I would definitely see a doctor.

How long has this been happening? It could be a chronic cough. Or even bronchitis.

You should go see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

That happens to me all the time. I feel bad for the test takers around me. I usually bring something hot to drink or cough drops.

yeah there's a girl in my class that had that too. she didn't have a cold or anything but she had this uncontrollable coughing. and she went to the doctor and gave him her blood and he said that her immune system was weak or something.
