Greetings everyone, I just got back from working out, and I'm bored, so I figured I'd start a topic about this CD I picked up last night.
Some of you may or may not know, John Mayer released his new CD "Continuum" on September 12th, and I was wondering if you guys listened to him and if you had any opinions on it.
In my opinion, it's a pretty solid album, and I'm enjoying his new style of Electric-guitar solos, in contrast to his Acoustic jams of earlier albums (which is odd, considering I'm an Acoustic Guitar player, and he is one of my major influences). I think his lyrics are typical of John Mayer-esque lyrics, and the vocals are pretty straight.
Anyway, just wondering if you guys had grabbed it and what you all thought.

Yea, Dreaming With A Broken Heart is great. I also enjoy Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. Like I said though, there's really not a single track on the CD that I don't enjoy.

^Eh just edit your last post.
I use to love John Mayer. Listened to it all the time, then I lost all my music and didn't for a while. I still enjoy his music though. I have failed yet to get his new album though. I suppose I'll put that on my to do list.

John Mayer is a genius.
He used those "pop"-y tunes to get famous, and now that people do listen to him, he plays what he truly wants to play and writes what kind of songs he wants to write and sing with whoever he wants to sing with.
It's the same John Mayer in a different packaging.
To quote him...
"Listen to 'Daughters', bitches."

i really like this album. "waiting for the world to change" and "gravity" are two of the best.

BUMP
I saw him in concert last night. It was him and Sheryl Crow. He was first, and Sheryl Crow second.
I left as soon as John was finished his last song and the crew started setting up for Sheryl Crow. Didn't want to ruin my perfect night.
He's amazing live.

This album seems so much mature than his last ones.

I haven't been a particularly HUGE fan of John Mayer, but I think he's okay.
I probably won't go out and buy his new cd, but his new song's pretty good.
[random] He has the same birthday as me. [/random]

There are a lot of songs much better than Waiting. Oh man I feel like a JM advocate.
He should pay me.
Or better yet wake me up by singing to me.

I love the whole turn-around he did. He started out with Inside wants out, incorporated some songs from that album into Room for Squares, which by the way, got him famous... Grew up and into Heavier Things... and is now playing a more mature style, mainly Blues which I think started showing through in the Try! album with the trio.
I could go on and on.
Now playing: 3x5 - John Mayer

Wow guys, thanks for keeping this topic alive. I'm glad to see you guys are helping out on the reviews. Yea, there are a bunch of better songs then "Waiting for the World To Change". I love the Jazzy feel to this CD compared to his other ones, which is what it sounds like a lot of you all like too.
And 3x5 is a great song.

I haven't fully listened to Continuum, but Slow Dancing in a Burning Room always makes me teary-eyed. Hah.
Room for Squares will always be one of my favorite albums. It might've been more pop-ish, but it's still amazing. I went to one of his concerts a while back when he just released Room for Squares. I love how he pretty much started off his career here in Atlanta.

You're right. After I saw him 09/22nd last year, I actually MISSED the guy. I didn't think that could happen.
