Movie tickets are getting so freaking expensive. That's why I only watch movies in the theater that have great effects. Comedy & drama can usually be scene on a regular television and still have the same "feeling."

Does anyone else do that?

What are your "theater-worthy" movies?

X-men,
Pirates of the Carribean,
Mission Impossible...

I saw those over the summer. My friends keep telling me to go see movies with them, but they're always just normal movies and I'm like... "nooo... I'm not paying $8 for one ticket when I can go to H.E.B. and get the dvd about 2 months later for $1 per day."

ooo.. i just turned down the movies yesterday cause i didn't want to ask for some more money from my parents (because i don't have a job yet) yeah my friends work or they are spoiled by their parents ... but if its up to me it doesn't whos money i'm paying with i'm still not wasting almost ten bucks for a movie. Especially if you can't talk through it .... haha well thats all i have to say .

Why not go to the movies? They're not getting expensive.. It's only $8.

An Inconvenient Truth was an AWESOME documentary. I watched in at the movies near Lincoln Center, so it was more than at the regular movie theaters.
World Trade Center was a pretty good movie..
I liked The Island too. I don't know why. mellow.gif
The Lake House was ok (I liked the Korean version better).
The Day After Tomorrow.
DONNIE DARKO! I LOVED that movie.
Armageddon. It made me cry.
Resident Evil - Apocalypse.
I, Robot.
Minority Report. throb.gif
Lilo & Stitch.
Finding Nemo.
I liked The Matrix. Watched them a longg time ago, so I can't remember which ones.
Harry Potter was ok. The books were better.

As you can see from my list, I LOVE sci-fi. And chick flicks/dramas too. XD.gif
I have more than these. I just can't think of them right now.

Compare $8 to $1 .... then compare the benefits from the theater to home tv...

By comparing... You go to the theater with your happy nuclear family... so that's like $6-$8 per person (~$7 x 4 = ~24). Then you go to H.E.B. ($1 total) or Blockbuster (iuno... ~4-6 total). That's like 20 dollars you save!

I only go to the theater when the benefits of the theater outway the benefits of my own home.

And it used to be $4. And they took out student tickets! That annoyed me.

Theater is better. It's bigger and it has better sound quality.

I don't mind the $8. I don't go to the movies that often. Maybe 2-4 times a month.. It's only $32 a month, tops.

Besides, at the movies you get to hang out with your friends and throw popcorn at them. XD.gif

I don't like renting movies.

Bigger and better sound quality only matters when you're watching action or horror or something like that... that's the only time I go to the theater.

Iuno... My friends and I rent movies and watch it at each other's houses. Most people have the big projector and the pull-down sheet, which is basically what they use in the movies. I think it's more fun to rent and go to someone's house because you can talk, sit in comfy couches, make food, and be more relaxed.

Plus you don't have to deal with all the annoying Junior High kids that seem to crowd up the theaters these days. Oh yeah... and no line.

I don't like spending money and wasting time in lines. But that's just me.

SUPERMAN! I really had to see this on the big screen.
Invincible throb.gif Mark Whalberg
I, Robot was brilliant. I loved that movie.
Pirates, of course.

And oh my gosh y'all's theaters are expensive! I have the choice of $3 at one, or $6 at another. The six dollar one has bigger screens, better sound system, better stadium seating, but the three dollar theater does it fine for me.

I like renting movies better. I can pause it if I need something more to drink, or go to the bathroom and whatever and I know I dont miss something important. Im cursed. Whenever I need to leave the movie theater I always end up missing something good.

ONLY?!##!!?

That *is* expensive if you're paying for it yourself and have other financial obligations (oh hell, even if you don't have other financial obligations). mellow.gif

I'm with the movie theater worthy listers. I do the same thing. Dramas and most comedies are going to be rented. The only movies I go out to see these days are action/adventure or fantasy/sci-fi genres. Even then, I pick and choose. I'll always see a Harry Potter movie in the theater (as an example).

I don't know about you, but the theater here is only about 5 bucks and if you bring your own bag/container they give you free popcorn. thumbsup.gif

$8 for any movie is a ripoff IMO, but I still go. Tickets are $6.75 in the morning, then $8 at night _dry.gif We used to have Cinema Savers where it was like $3 to watch a movie that came out months before, but it was torn down.

Are you forreal? $5 and free popcorn? Where do you live?

Anyway, I don't think the PoTC series and Superman will be the same on a television.

WOW. AWESOME. XD

For me, it's about $6-8, depending on the popularity of the movie.
We get free popcorn too. Except now we don't. sad.gif
Either way, the only movie I thought was worthy was X-Men III. Other than that, I haven't been to the theatres for a freaking long time.

i really go to the movies if i like the movie. it doesn`t matter if it has great effects && stuff. if it looks good/interesting to me, then i`ll go see it. it`s a way to spend time with friends, so i don`t really care if it costs me $7.50 everytime.

I saw Little Miss Sunshine in theaters recently and enjoyed it.
OhMyAnniee
.. I know people that work in the movie theatre near me so I have gift certificates to get in for free & if my friends buy the tickets with me they pay $5.50 per ticket.

ANYWAYS, yeah I think Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia was the best in the theatres because like .. it just is. Haha.

omg.gif Armageddon is such a good movie. It's so sad!
Oh, and that brings up Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor's just great wherever you see it.
princess.giselle
I usually to the theaters with my friends when there's a chick-flick on. Sometimes we go for comedy. Just as long as it looks interesting, then it's okay.
BZbodyboarder84
I've actually never thought of picking the movies I went to go see in theaters that way...to be honest though, I don't go to the movies much, not enough time. So I only go if it's a film I've been waiting for, like "Flyboys", which is coming out.
Relentless
Hmm, i don't mind paying $6~8 to go to the theatre. I love the sound and the bigger screen makes it a lot more interesting. Also, to hang out with you're friends and such. Espicially ACTION MOVIES. I go to movies like at least once or so because I just love the movies. Movie-ADDICTION.

I think Action/Fighting/Comedy movies are worth it for me. (=
Like..
You, me & Dupree
All X-men
PoTC
All Harry Potter
All Jet Li's movies
All Jackie Chan movies
Little Man
Basically all action/comedy type. There's lots more but I can't think of them at the moment.

I have more than 100+ tickets that I saved in my drawer, I don't know why I save them but I just keep em`.

In fact, I'm going to the movies on Friday or saturday to see JACKASS 2. WOOO. Gonna be hilarious.
angelrevelation
V for vendetta, harry potter movies, and the newer charlie and the chocolate factory movie. sky high was pretty good too.
