Nowadays, there are plenty of Taiwanese dramas that are based off of shojo manga. I love it! Some people don't like it though. :[ So what's your opinion?

I've watched plentyy of them. Mmmm I've seen:
- Meteor Garden (it's a classic) which was based off of Hana Yori Dango.
- MARS (mmhmm <3)
- Devil Beside You which was based off of Akuma de Sourou (Devil Does Exist).
- Peach Girl
- It Started With A Kiss which was based off of Itazura no Kiss.

There's also Marmalade Boy but I actually haven't watched that yet.

That's all that I can think of now :D Those are basically the popular ones.

There is going to be t-drama based off of Hana Kimi (which is starring Wu Zuo, Jiro Wang, Jj Lin and Ella from S.H.E!! not that you'd care of anything...heh.) and it should be coming out late October, but that's just a rumor. But yeah, it should be coming out soon! =)

They also have Tokyo Juliet out now. :D

So have you watched them? Do you like them? Yay for mangas and t-dramas!

Haha. You know very well I watch dramas. And not just tdramas. So far I've only seen Mars. And a few episodes of The Devil Beside You. I've seen more jdramas though. Hana Yori Dango, Gokusen (1 & 2), Kimi Wa Petto, and I plan on watching many more :P

Hmm. I suppose we should put recommendations for dramas in here too, right? Well I just finished an AWESOME series called 1 Litre of Tears. This is a tear-jerker, so if you don't like becoming a pile of soppy mush, don't watch it.



The story is about a girl named Aya who is diagnosed with an incurable disease. The series shows how she lived her life until her death at age 25. It's based on a true story and is one of the best dramas I've seen yet. It's definitely something I recommend.

Some movies that are based on books sucks, the dramas based on manga books do not. Honestly. >< I love watching tdramas. DBY made me cry a river.. XD
It was probably the first Chinese show I've never gotten into. 'Cause I usually think Cdramas suck. xP But the ones based on mangas don't suck as bad, IMO.

I've seen Meteor Garden and that's it (haha F4 rocks), but I don't know which mangas should be turned into dramas. Yes, I like them.

I've yet to see Meteor Garden. I don't know, I'm hesistant to watch it because it may ruin the ideal image I have of HYD. The HYD drama (Japanese version) is awesome. I'm still in love with it even though I've watched it a million times.

The girl fits very well, but in my opinion, Sano's character is alright...

I really really prefer the mangas more than dramas. TV is ..tv. I seriously am sick of TV and I personally enjoy reading mangas more.

Hmm.. Meteor Garden was okay. It was nice that it followed the storyline, but I didn't feel like Barbie Hsu captured Makino that well. I heard her acting was better in Mars. After 20 episodes or so, I quit watching Meteor Garden. It was just a waste of my time. I ONLY watched it because I liked the guy who acted as Dao Ming Si (Domyouji). :P He's HOOOOTTT

I heard Devil Beside You was pretty good. I've only seen clips of it and it looks pretty interesting. :P

Mars.. I've only seen an episode and I've only read 1 volume of mars, so I really honestly can't compare. But it looks pretty good. Barbie Hsu acts much better in here. Although, The main guy also acts as Hanazawa Rui in Meteor Garden, and I think he looks cuter in Meteor Garden. :P Mars definitely has potential to be good, and other people have told me that it is better than Meteor Garden. Maybe I'll finish it something after I finish the manga lol.

Princess Hours (Goong) is based off of a manhwa and it's pretty good! You gotta admit, the character portrayals are reallly good and the Koreans are good at making you cry. Yay for K-Dramas!

Full House (k-drama) was also based off of a manhwa and I would have to say that THAT drama is pretty good as well! Although, some parts did confuse me. But then again, I watched it in Vietnamese :P You know translations get lost in there...

Hana Yori Dango (JDrama) is really good as well! All the actors and actresses were really into it. It's better than Meteor Garden, but with fewer episodes. :P

Kimi wa Petto... It's pretty good based on the first two episodes I've seen. But once again, I haven't read the manga yet. I need to!

Nana - Okay, I KNOW it was a MOVIE, but it was an AWESOME movie! I just had to mention it!

Yeah, it is a diff. title. It's called Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu. XD Yay, I have the DVD of it! First 12 episodes I think. >< I gotta watch ep. 13 which aired a week ago. yeeeeauh. This series is almost over.


XDDDDDDDD IT IS INTERESTING ~! It's a bit too dramatic at times though, but Mike He and them adorable romantic moments make up for that I wanna read Akuma de Sorou now though.

HYD is good, i'm still waiting for subtitles on season . Sigh. I like manga/anime being turned into dramas. It's interesting to see which people they choose to portray the characters.

^^ Yes. It's amazing. A million times better than the drama, and that was great in and of itself.

I've only read the manga Akuma de Sourou and yea it's pretty good. It's much better than Marmalade Boy! No offense, but I find Wataru Yoshizumi (I forgot how to spell her name) a mangaka who doesn't really break boundaries when it comes to mangas. Marmalade Boy was probably the only one that I REALLY like by her, since the rest are kind of... blah... AUGH don't even get me started with Ultra Maniac... That was horrible. </end rant> Yay for Marmalade Boy. :]

Although, The Devil Does Exist seems much better, except that the main characters aren't truly related.
Marmalade Boy is too happy-go-lucky, like there's no angst in it or anything. The characters seem like they live perfect lives and then the whole family thing happens. That's about it.
Whereas, The Devil Does Exist is more more touching becuase its characters has flaws and it's much more..dramatic. :P And more interesting. :D

OMG so I'm watching Hana Kimi. Only up to episode 11 has been subbed. And I don't really want to turn to Youtube since the quality's so bad, sometimes I can't even read the subtitles. That's youtube for ya.

Sano never tells Mizuki that she's a girl! It's like, a total cliffhanger! Kinda like Hana Yori Dango or Ouran (anime). BOO.

I hope that Woo Chun and Ella make a Hana Kimi 2. There's like, twice as many volumes as there are episodes.

Nakatsu <3333 Jiro Wang (I belive that's his name) is an awesome actor! Although at times he makes Nakatsu look really ditsy, he's still the best actor in Hana Kimi, lol!

Hana Kimi was good, but honestly, it doesn't live up to the manga. Agreed, Jiro Wang was the best actor, Woo Chun depicted Izumi Sano pretty well (dcent, to say the least). But Ella from S.H.E.... I mean, seriously, they could've gotten someone better. No offense, but the faces that Ella makes are just too.. AUGH. My boyfriend likes the drama too, but he says he wants to punch her because she makes that dopey face. It annoys me as well too because it makes the drama seem cheesy at times. But then again, I think that the directors could've change the way they created the characters because Mizuki wasn't supposed to be so.. eccentric. o__O' lol

Ah well, Nakatsu Still, the drama's better than Meteor Garden, so hey I'm not compalining since Jiro Wang's in it. <333

You're right, sometimes Ella's overdramatic faces really frustrate me, but I really can't think of a better Taiwanese actor who would fit the part. Wu Zun was alright for Sano, but I think they could've found someone better. But I think the director is at fault...the manga is supposed tobe a bit more serious & mature and not so weird. :x Ah well. It's still good! And you're right, it's 10 times better than Meteor Garden was. (side note: Though the actors from Meteor Garden have definitely gotten better...Vic Zhou and Barbie are really good at acting now.)

MAJOR recommendation. Nobuta wa Produce. The gorgeous Yamapi and Kame. The character of Nobuta is super cute in her own right. It's quite an interesting storyline. I love it.
