Hi all,

I'm new here. Tried to look around a little bit first.

I'm looking to see if I can find something to add to my livejournal account that will track ip addresses/time/date of visit.

I'm ok with some pc stuff.. not that great with coding. ermm.gif Any chance of being steered in the right direction?

Any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated. _smile.gif

We actually have a tracker here that works pretty well for LJ. =]

http://www.createblog.com/stats/

Thanks! I've just added it to my LJ. Changed the way it looked, but it still looks ok. Where do the stats/info appear once they start coming in?

When you sign in to CB, there should be a "Stats" link at the very top, next to the logo with the other links and above the search bar. Click it and you will be able to see your stats.
rdcpc
Thanks! :)

Edit:

Found the stat button.. went to take a look and it's got 0 values. Hopefully I've got it in there correctly. Looked simple enough.

This is what I put in for my LiveJournal portion of it "http://XXXXX.livejournal.com/" and then the rest seemed simple enough.

Hmm, still appear to be having some trouble. Haven't logged any information at all on the stats counter.

Does it log info immediately?

Thanks again for everyone's help.
mona lisa
Yes, it does log stats immediately but only if people actually visit your page and the code is inserted (into wherever) properly. The code you were given was pasted into your LiveJournal, right?
rdcpc
Yes, I got the code and placed it in the journal.

This is the code I was given.

<!-- start tracking code provided by createblog.com -->
<a href="http://www.createblog.com/stats/index.php?id=30031"> </a>
<style type="text/css">#cb_tracker { visibility:hidden; height:1px; width:1px; }</style>
<!-- end tracking code provided by createblog.com -->

When I went into my journal I made sure I checked of the S1 option and then went into the custom options section for the overides where I placed the codes and hit save.

Anything else I should have done that I may have missed?
Libertie
It should go in between your LASTN_WEBSITE tags, if you have them:

LASTN_WEBSITE<=

code

<=LASTN_WEBSITE
rdcpc
Is this what I'm suppose to insert for codes then?

LASTN_WEBSITE<=
<!-- start tracking code provided by createblog.com -->
<a href="http://www.createblog.com/stats/index.php?id=30031"> </a>
<style type="text/css">#cb_tracker { visibility:hidden; height:1px; width:1px; }</style>
<!-- end tracking code provided by createblog.com -->
<=LASTN_WEBSITE

Sorry, I'm getting confused when you say "LASTN_WEBSITE tags" or do you mean this http://XXXXX.livejournal.com?
Mulder
you insert what you have from LASTN_WEBSITE<= to <=LASTN_WEBSITE in your look & feel.
Libertie
Yes, put everything you said (the code) in the last post here:

http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml
rdcpc
Ok, I've done that.

Hopefully I haven't frustrated everyone with all this. blush.gif I can do many wonderful things.. this just doesn't happen to be one of them. (at least not yet!) laugh.gif

Hello. I just have a quick question, and I didn't think it merits a new thread. Is there any way to use the tracking code without having a generator layout? If you are using the style creator on a Paid Account, is there a way to still use the tracker, and have a Paid Account layout up?

It should work with a paid account, too, as long as you enter in the correct livejournal url when you're creating the tracker. Just place the stat html that's provided into the coding of the custom layout.

After receiving a few comments on my Journal this morning I went to check my stats. Nothing is showing up. I'm lost. I believe I'm following the instructions as I'm being told. Evidently I'm still getting something along the way with the process wrong.

S1
Custom Options

Inserted the following code

LASTN_WEBSITE<=http://xxxxx.livejournal.com
<!-- start tracking code provided by createblog.com -->
<a href="http://www.createblog.com/stats/index.php?id=30031"> </a>
<style type="text/css">#cb_tracker { visibility:hidden; height:1px; width:1px; }</style>
<!-- end tracking code provided by createblog.com -->
<=LASTN_WEBSITE

Save

What am i doing wrong????

I give up after this.

I'm not sure if that's the problem, but the link is unnecessary and may be messing up the code. Try taking that out. Also, make sure that in your profile, you have a link (any link at all, something MUST be there) in the field for "Web Page" here: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/profile/
