QUOTE(kryogenix @ Feb 22 2008, 01:59 AM)

As I understand, this stuff is still in practice in Africa and the Middle East.
Erm... It's still being practiced all over the world actually. But modern civilizations want it phased out.
QUOTE
The difference between other belief systems is that I don't think the founder of other religions married young girls. I don't think Abraham did. I don't think Jesus did. I don't think Siddharta Gautama did.
Your point being? God never said it was a sin nor was it good to marry a child or have children get married. It was never considered an issue. But as we all know, a lot of the world views children getting married as ridiculous.
QUOTE
By who's authority was this practice changed?
I can't answer that with a specific name nor time frame. I can only say by the authority of evolution, specifically psychological.
QUOTE
How does one know they are following the right religion?
There is no right or wrong religion, unless it's obvious that the religion only exists to harm humanity and defame God, the word of God, the Prophets, and the word of the Prophets.
QUOTE
Where do Sunnis place their authority? Where do Shiites place their authority? If they place their authority in the same place, why do they have distinct beliefs?
They place them all in God and God only.
As to why they have distinct beliefs, I already answered that with a link to get the full understanding. There's no possible way of summing up the differences between the two.
QUOTE
What about Imams? Do they not control people with religious politics?
They're supposed to keep order, a land with no physical authority is just bad news, we all know this.
They don't use religious politics per say, because in Islam, there is no religious politics. Everyone follows the Qur'an and understand the consequences.
Though I do understand that Imams are trying to control their people with man made laws and I totally disagree with it. Because this takes away the true freedom from the people.
QUOTE
What is your opinion on the Dalai Lama?
Thanks for the answers.
A great man we had. Unfortunately he never had the chance to explain himself for his racist political views. I never found a good enough explanation. So while he helped many of his people, he was still racist in my book.
As for him going to heaven? I couldn't answer you that. It depends on his heart and God will judge him for his heart.
