Well first off I'm against animal testing to begin with & homosexuality hasn't been considered a mental illness for quite some time and isn't in need of a 'cure'. Anyone seen the movie Hard Pill?

So yea, your thoughts on both killing sheep for testing and 'curing' homosexuality.

And yeah, they shouldn't do this! Why would they want to cure homosexuality? It's a CHOICE. Not a freaking DISEASE.

AND this will cost MILLIONS of dollars. That could put it to better use and use for schools or homeland security.

Why would a person want to change somebody's sexual preference? Homophobia is bad enough, but a drug can't make everybody conform to what one group of people wants.

Um, all living creatures can be gay. Just like humans. Anyway, I don't think it is a choice. I think that people are born that way.

But either way, it's a bad idea. There's nothing wrong with homosexuality and scientists don't need to "cure" it.

I think so, only because gay is so taboo in our society. I don't have a problem with it, but so many people do. Someone can lose their family, friends, job and/or children by "coming out." Why would they choose to do that to themselves?

Plus, my best friend is a lesbian. She didn't choose to be that way, but she's proud of who she is.

I think it's because they don't want to pretend to be someone they're not.

BonneVache, if you were so against in testing animals, you shouldnt be taking any pills that had been tested on animals.

The reason that I don't believe homosexuality is a choice is this:

If it was a choice, that would mean that a straight or bi person who wished to be gay to decide then and there that he/she wanted to be gay, and then only have relationships with those of the same sex. It would mean forcing oneself to be attracted to the same sex.

If someone already felt attracted to the same sex, but didn't do so on purpose, then it couldn't possibly have been their choice because these feelings happened without their consent.

If homosexuality "WAS" a disease or some sort of mutated gene of some sort, they should find a cure. And if they did find a cure for gays... I would be highly impressed and I would have them cure my child if they were gay. I hate to seem ignorant or hateful towards gays, but I'm only one human with an opinion against homosexuality.




The way I see it is... people who choose to be gay only choose it because they're curious and they like it. A man knows his body more than he does a woman's... why? Because it's his body. So I'm sure he would treat another man's body the same way he would treat himself... which that's why men love being with men. Same with women. They know "how" to do things sexually. Plus I think they're just in sexual lust... not so much love as they claim. People always confuse love with lust.

First off I hate to sound rude, but I hope you never have a son or daughter who is homosexual because everything you wrote was infact horribly offensive & would it probably crush them to know that their parent would rather shove a pill down their throat instead of letting them be who they are. Anyone could have lust for anyone else. It isn't limited to homosexuals to confuse love with lust, nor is it the standard in homosexual relationships. A heterosexual person could just as easy think they're in love with a person because how they look.

And if anything, if the doctors made a claim that they could find any signs of homosexuality rather durin the pregnancy or right after the child is born... I would want them to tell me ahead of time, so the child wouldn't know the difference

And I accept your opinion towards me about my "not accepting" homosexuality, as a sign of ignorance. And you're right anyone can lust and not love, or confuse love and lust, no preference of anything makes that difference. But from my knowledge of the Greeks and especially the Romans, it was all over lust. I have a book some where in my room, where there was claims of pregnant wives who would let their husbands sleep with other men because that was not considered "adultry". Wouldn't that mean that Roman men were just horny/lustful and wanted some soo bad they'd go to the extent of sleepin with the same gender, while married in a "heterosexual" relationship?

Yes the topic is stated as to tell people what the article, and thusly the debate, was to be about. The researcher's goal is to "cure" homosexuality and thusly the title of the threat followed suit.

As far as your wording goes, no I didn't mean say "homosexuals" instead of "gays" I mean refering to homosexuality instead of saying "Cure the gays"...


What a lovely sentiment. Rather than let the child choose for themselves lets drug them! Forget the consequences of drugging the unborn child.

As far as the romans & greeks go. It doesn't reflect on homosexuality. A certain culture's standards doesn't dictate the norm of anything, weather the men were gay or not doesn't matter. If they were, then they slept with men for that reason. If they weren't then they slept with men to get laid. Its that simple, sweeping generalizations don't work.

Look if being gay is not a choice... and is actually something born in their genes, I would want it to be cured if its MY CHILD. MINE, MY, I OWN THAT FLESH AND BLOOD. Sorry but some people just dont accept it for many reasons, in fact my parents block off MTV and many other channels that have T.V. shows such as Queer eye or will and grace just so that my little sister doesn't watch it and I find that perfectly fine...

Anyways she also agrees with what I pointed out, if we find out the child is homosexual before birth or right after birth, we should have the right to change it. Good for people who would not like to be homosexual but cannot help their attractions to the same sex. Someone is definitely gonna try it, lot's of people that are homosexual wish they weren't attracted to the same sex, lot's of homosexuals go through a guilt phase about it. So they'll like it.
And people who are comfortable do not have to use it. It's even! As long as it's not being forced. A lot of people that like the same sexes were attracted ever since childhood, eff the BS "kids don't know", oh yes, some do, I know I did ever since I could remember. Never remembered thinking 'ew' to me and the same sex, only when i was trying to trick myself (thinking if I convince myself I won't like guys too, just girls.) or when I was with someone. It is a choice for a lot of people wether they want to have sex, marry, or engage in a relationship with the same sex, but a lot of people can't help their attractions to the same sex or erase it. So for some it isn't a choice.
Killing sheep for testing is what I do not agree with, but it's man being cruel to animals like always.

What if they killed the sheep, used whatever they needed.. and then fed the poor and hungry with that same exact sheep that was killed... that would benefit everyone, in my opinion.

I don't think feeding people test sheep is the best course of action. I would venture to guess that to some extend medications & drugs are used on the sheep during the tests, or while they're being raised, that would make them unsuitable for eating...
I'm not saying thats true, but even if that isn't the case I don't think the public would like the idea of shipping off test sheep to be eaten.

I would also doubt that the sheep would be suitable for eating based on how they would be handled after their death + I doubt the lab would be willing to spend the extra time and money to conform its practices to meet such standards.

So yea, the whole "feed the sheep to the poor" idea really doesn't click if you think about it.
