Soooo.... who are the smart seniors who got National Merit Semifinalist?

My counselor just handed us the forms for Finalist application.

Only 8 people in my school got semifinalist, and I'm was so freakin' happy to be one of them.

So I'm giving myself bragging rights.

I GOT NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALIST, BIATCH!!!

You don't apply, you take the PSAT as a junior, which is also the qualifying test. I think they take the top 10 or 20% of scores, and then have things to narrow it from there.

My score was just under. It qualified, but it didn't. I can't really think of a better way to explain that.

Wow,... what school do you go to? B/C my class size is 535 and that's considered small for a public school.

Yeah... National Merit is based on your PSAT test. For each state, there's a cutoff, like in Tejas, it's 217 this year.

I go to a private school... thus the small enrollment. I'm not sure what the cut-off was - all I know was that it was the top 1%.

I got National Merit and National Achievement (for Black people). I doubt I'll become a finalist...
