Has your photoshop been lagging lately? That could be a sign that your computer has insufficient memory to run it.
Which happens all the time to me. -headdesk-

Downloading it again isn't a good idea.. Wastes time, when you could be reinstalling it.
An even better idea is exit processes from Task Manager. That makes it go faster.
Only end the useless ones, like AIM and iTunes Helper (if that's in there). And only the ones under YOUR username. NOT System. And DO NOT exit the exec application!

Ok. Don't reinstall it just yet.
I'm assuming that you have a Windows PC...
To exit processes from Task Manager, first press Ctrl+Alt+Del (Click on Task Manager if you have XP Professional, click Task Manager after C+A+D). Click on the processes tab. Then click on a process (something that has .exe after it in the white box. Preferably something useless like msmsgs.exe). After you have the process highlighted, click "End Process" in the bottom right corner.
And as I said before, only end the useless ones, like AIM (aim.exe) and iTunes Helper (iTuneshelper.exe, if that's in there). And only the ones under YOUR username. NOT System. And DO NOT exit the exec.exe!
BTW: ending a process will end what ever you have open that's related to the process. Like make you sign off AIM. Not with iTunes Helper though. You don't really need iTunes Helper for iTunes.
And I suggest when using Photoshop, don't keep Internet Explorer or Firefox or what ever you use for internet open. And don't be on AIM or scanning for viruses or using iTunes or Winamp or whatever. Just do Photoshop and nothing else 'cause your computer doesn't sound like the multi-tasking type.

Ok, I don't know what primary scratch and primary paging files are, but the last part says that it may be harder to use or something. More like.. it won't be.. that efficient..
But I'm not sure 'cause I never really used Photoshop.
Now, if Windows Task Manager doesn't pop up when you press C+A+D, then something is DEFINITELY wrong.
Do you use XP Home, Media Center, or Professional?

To open Windows Task Manager, right-click an empty space on the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
For information about using Windows Task Manager, click the Help menu in Windows Task Manager.
For more information, click Related Topics.
And read my previous posts for what to do after that.

Taskbar is the thing on the bottom of the screen. Like.. where Internet Explore shows up? Right click on an empty and click task manager.

i found it !! yay!! but wat else should i delete ?
and what do you mean by " And DO NOT exit the exec.exe!" ?

Aug 25 2006, 08:53 PM
Exiting exec.exe messes up your computer. It like.. makes taskbar and stuff go away. And so you can't use the computer and you have to restart.
Don't exit explorer.exe either. It will mess your computer up and you'll have to restart. (I did a test on this about 2 years back, so I know.)
You can delete Weather.exe from the list, if you have it. And when you're on Photoshop, I suggest you exit everything, including Internet Explorer (or whatever you use for internet) 'cause it usually takes up the most memory usage (like I'm using Firefox right now and it's taking up over 107,000K).
Yeah, and so try Photoshop after that..

Ok, I don't know what primary scratch and primary paging files are, but the last part says that it may be harder to use or something. More like.. it won't be.. that efficient..
To improve efficiency, Photoshop uses what is called "scratch space" to temporarily write files you are working on. Windows uses a "pagefile" to write out contents of RAM that haven't been used in a while, in order to improve RAM efficiency.
Basically, having both the scratch file and the RAM pagefile on the same volume
can decrease Photoshop's performance, but it only matters if you are working on large files and/or doing really CPU-intensive things with images, such as apply high-end filters. It doesn't really matter for common, everyday usage.

You should call up Adobe's tech support, they'll help you out. The number should be on the box or with your manuals.

You can't use that because that's for Mac OS X.
Try what's on this:
