Okay, my split ends are REALLY bugging me! They're like split 8 times. Does anybody know how to stop this?? I cut them, take care of my hair, etc.. but it just doesn't help. They just resplit within 3 days. Should I be using a different kind of shampoo/conditioner? I use Tresemme and Kirkland brand. I used to use Suave or Bath & Body Works, but ever since I stopped, my hair has been more... dead. My mom won't buy those brands anymore -.-;

tinababy143
eww i HATE split ends..i deep condition my hair every other week tho..so that seems to help..or just get a haircut and that can solve the problem as well

lcapk
trim at least every 2 months.. or is that to keep it in style. and when u put on conditioner.. make sure u rub it in the bottom of your hair and leave it on for a few minutes

The people at the salon say that there's really no way to treat split ends only to just get it chopped off...Oh and chemicals and heat contribute to the split ends...(ie: straitener, curling iron, blow dryer) but maybe they're lying ^_^
pikimoo
Eh.. what's 'deep conditon'? Oh well.. I'll try to find some new shampoo.

Thanks for the help.

By the way, haircuts don't solve the problem for me -.-; I would have to get a haircut every 3 days.
leptizz
you prolly have thin hair. you can get a coating, it'll help stop it.
i got no split ends, but it's prolly cause i have really thick hair.
waccoon
excessive combing, hair drying, sun exposure, brushing, etc will cause split ends
rOckThISshYt
i have no idea. maybe you should get your hair trimmed more. huh.gif
LatinaLady

Well, I comb my hair and brush it daily. I need to huh.gif But I wouldn't consider it excessive. Umm.. it's not sun exposure becaue I'm almost always inside..

Maybe it's the hair dying? I haven't dyed it recently, but yeah. I still have bleach streaks from when I dyed it red.

Thanks again!
islandkiss
split ends. I HAVE them. lol. yes.. they suck, a lot
hybrid

dandruff =]

OMDL, I get so many spilt ends, too. I think it's also cuz your hair lacks nutrients. Do you eat a lot of fruit?

Still doesn't work?

Maybe you should just shave it all off ^^;; jk!

Try Pantene :) It's never failed me! The conditioner is AWESOME! Here are ways to keep your split ends to a minium:

1) Get a haircut
2) Don't use curling/straightening irons, it's like frying your hair...no wonder it gets crisp eh?
3) Don't blow dry your hair too much, if you do..keep it as far away from your hair as you can
4) When tying hair up in a scrunchie, don't do it too tight, it results in ripping off half of your hair. I know it's a pain to keep on tying it over and over again, but hey, at least you keep your hair right?
hiimtiffany
in seventeen (magazine), it says dat there is no proven shampoo or n e thing that can prevent split ends... except cutting dem... is dat troo?

i like split ends. when i`m bored i try to find them.haha.and when i do, i trim part of the hair strand and i star peeling the split end apart.haha.it`s very amusing.

i feel different happy.gif
opim
doing that keeps me awake in class :D

i don't think there's any way to treat spilt ends. i mean once it's split, it's split, you can't glue it back together. i think that's what it means. instead, just "nip it and nip it in the bud."

shave ure whole head off
haha JK

cut em off .. orrr... use citreshine.. i bought it today the whole replenishing thing.. for damage overprocessed hair.. it's great.. you can also put some "placenta" in it...its gross but your hair will look awesome.. then theres the whole mayonase.. or avocado.. they work too.. but it's really stinky.. Good Luck!!

Haha.. I do that too! But it really bothers my when other people come up to me and start looking ofr them in my hair then ripping each one out.. for no reason!

I need to eat more fruit.
Spirited Away
Eat fruit, drink mnre water, and don't use straightening/curling irons too much.
smileyamers
hiimtiffany: i read that too...like those shampoos that say they fix split ends. they just stick the hairs together temporarily and then soon they resplit again.

eat all ur nutrients and vitamins and stuff! yea, and drink water too.
iheartsimba
ehh try a trim every now and then =]

striaghtening ur hair gives u split ends also

and maybe try some shampoo made especially to strenghten hair or something
randi_erin
ok i just graduated from cosmetology so i know what to do. you should trim your end every 4-6 weeks, use a heat protectant before you blowdry and style. i hope this helps.

yeah, same here. grr, i have so many split ends... and nothing really helps. but, when i'm bored, i like looking for them too.
randi_erin
its not shampoo that gives you split ends. its caused by damage from blowdryers, straighteners and curling irons.
xmyapologies
you should get this special thing for your hair..
randi_erin
and what kind of special thing would that be????

if your hair tends to dry out easily you should try a deep conditioning treatment or a hot oil treatment, it works everytime.
sheddingtears
I think maybe it's your shampoo. I use Pantene Pro V conditioner and shampoo and my hair hasn't split at all this year.
stupidityhurts
don't blow-dry your hair.---and yea, eat a lot of fruits for vitamins:)
amiie
me tooo. i stopped blowing my hair and use lux super rich conditioner. it's getting better now.

Uh oh, no wonder I saw those split ends a few days ago!! Thank you so much!!! worthy.gif This thread is worthy!!!
MisSyHangy
straigthing or curling your hair with those hot thingies
cause your hair to spilt.
..jux cut your hair.. and condition it right.

i have some too.. cuz of straigthing my hair..
thats why i short hair.. its easy to takcare of then
long hair.

straighting and stuff.. also cause your hair to dry.
and make it look blah.. its good to use some good
products to soft'n your hair
x hYpErRoSeY x
i have a LOT of them - i just cut them off buh they come back- i have no idea what to do :(
TheSuGaRAdDiCt
my hair used to be to the top of my butt, and i had split ends that would split and split. gah, it was crazy. haha, and when i'd get bored in class, i'd nip the off with my teeth and split them. yep... lol, but anywho, after i donated my hair (i chopped off 14 inches) i don't have so many split ends now... and i hear using a hot oil treatment helps seal the ends. so yeah, try alberto VO5 or something. ^_^
zuhms
i have split ends so i get mine cut every month about an inch or so. it helps alot.
baybietenshi
haha. my split ends have split ends. laugh.gif

bath and body works..you probably shouldnt get shampoo from there. they're specialty is lotion and body stuff..not hair.. blink.gif
ExCriminal21
best advice i can give is use scrunchies without that metal thing in the middle... those can do some damage...
xsweetdreams12x
I don't get split ends, but I don't think it's the shampoo and conditioner you're using. I use Tressemme and I don't get it. Talk to a local hair stylist. Maybe they can help. happy.gif

i hate those damn split ends..why why oh why we do have em...

ditto.... sad.gif and i have TONS of spilt ends....
cookiethief
wut are split ends? err.. i don't think i have any, probably becuz i hav short hair. =P umm if cutting yur hair isn't any use, then i guess switch shampoos/conditioners like everyone else is saying. if that doesn't work, then go talk to a hair stylist or something. i heard that overconditioning causes them too. ehh.. gl tho (=
jarnifer
i've never had split ends...checked many many times...
and i have long hair...and i don't even remember when was the last time i had a hair cut.... blink.gif i just use whatever shampoo and conditioner is around...no matter what...my hair is still shiny and dead straight....weird

but i heard that if you put more conditioner on ur ends...it might help protect them...or is it that your hair loses it's inner moisture too quickly? mebbe you should stop dyeing ur hair or straightening it or whatever...cuz it takes out the moisture...or try those hair cream that you put on ur hair and leave for awhile and wash off...anyways gd luck..
