now i've never used textures before (other than the presets) and i've never downloaded/loaded them before. all i usually use are brushes.

my question is how do i load them?

i have PS7 i believe it's 7 not sure.. haha, but after i downloaded it.. i went to..

Filter > Texture > Texturizers > and then the little button that looks like a "play button" had the option "Load Texture" on it. all the textures i downloaded were jpgs. and it only let me download a PSD file.

i'm assuming i'm in the wrong place when i did that because after i changed one of the files from jpg. to psd. it accepted the file to be loaded, but i couldn't find it anywhere pinch.gif

help anyone?

also, what does a final product look like with a texture on it? i'm sure i've seen it but just assumed it was a brush.. i've never used them, i'm sure it can enhance my work pretty good...

Err... Normally that's not what you do. See, 'cause.... Textures are meant for overlaying as an image.

You open up the texture, select it (or just the section you want) and paste it onto a new layer. Fiddle with opacity and layer style a little and BAM! You've got something neat. There's also a reverse way of doing it... Like so! See that paper? That's my base and then all my images and text are put over it.

Here's a final product. Which was a bunch of images over a flood-filled background. Then, this texture on a new layer and set it to Lighten. There's really no way you could mistake that for a brush. That's an example of light textures though (which Kristina could ramble for hours about probably!). This is probably more of the traditional style, using a texture from Aethereality set to Overlay.
