okey so when i make an image in PSP, it looks great, but when i upload it the quality of it pretty much sucks. how do i get a "high quality" image? if you get what i'm saying?
marzipan
What file type are you saving it under? I know when you save it under JPEG, it has a grungy look. Save it under PNG.
Jeng
no jpg. pictures are more clearer
png is icky.i only use it for collages

Actually .png 's are better. Thats why they're substantially much larger.
PrincessAda
.png would work best.
i don`t think psp has the same option as ps when you save it as a .jpg

Also, are your images being automatically optimized? It makes the file size smaller but the quality is reduced as well.
silent epidemic
well i tried using .png one time. like for myspace, i saved a photo as .png & it came out very distorted looking. & another time when i used it for a background, the place where i uploaded it automatically made it smaller because the file was too big. & i'm not sure if it is automatically optimized. i doubt it though because under File there as an option that says export> jpeg optimizer. which, i also wonder if that would help me out if i saved it as a jpeg? i'm just really upset that the images i worked hard on turn out distorted & with low-quality

It could be the server too, where are you uploading it?

Imageshack is the best, photobucket decreases quality if the image is too large.

well, yeah i use photobucket. thanks, i'll start using imageshack. =] but yeah it also happens when i upload an image onto myspace.

When you upload pictures as photos on myspace, myspace automatically converts them to .jpgs, which is why there is some substantial quality loss.

oh, well okey that makes sense. but i've seen some high quality images on myspace, like seriously high quality. is there a way to prevent the quality loss? or does the size of the image have anything to do with it? my pictures are normally around 450px in width

Size, I always save my images as jpg when I put them on myspace. I don't see any change at all. But make sure their not like like bigger than 600px x 600 px
or maybe a little small than that, or they will automatically resize them.
silent epidemic
yes, my images are jpg when i put them on myspace & they are always under 600px yet still come out lower quality. & i've seen images in perfect quality..
