Well, people have complained that I am quite too serious, so I will attempt to lighten my discussion. I do quite enjoy trains, and undergrounds are quite close. I have not been on many, to my regret, But I must say my favorite is the Metro in the District of Columbia. The stations are expecially nice. Also nice is the Marta of Atlanta.

It is a pity that the United States does not have a better train system. I suppose aeroplanes can do faster for cheaper, but there is a certain nostalgia about trains that is very nice. Do any of you like the underground? What is your favorite underground?

No I don't really use the subway/underground that much, though I do have a nice lil story to share with you.
A couple weeks ago my family abd I were visiting london. We were on the bus and my dad asked a guy to direct us to the Brixton subway. The man told us to follow him and after a block of walking he told us to make a left. We peered down the street and saw no train station. Then my brother shouts, "Look there it is!" and points to a subway restaurant.
xDDD Luckily the underground was just across the road.

Ive never been to one. so idk. There arent any near where I live.

dude you are really serious
anyways...I've never been on a train mellow.gif I'm kind of scared of them though...I dunno why

I hate the subway. I had a terrible past with one. I walk around I see people of all kinds. It's sad ... it's like walking in a graveyard.

I love basements though. It's calm. It's gloomy but it's not the intimidating kind.

I take the subway all the time. It's my only way of getting places, besides a car.

the ones on Boston are pretty clean.. doesn't have many stops though.

i like the ones in NYC too because i can blast music really loud and annoy people :) that's always fun. the only thing with NYC's subway system is that it's too dirty, smells like piss and garbage, too many homeless people, too crowded, sometimes has no AC, sometimes you have to walk a long way to transfer, and you can easily get lost your first week.
i go on the train a lot. i was totally lost my first 3 times going there alone.

and sometimes, it's creepy for a 14-year-old to go alone on the train. too many weird people there.

true ...it really isnt safe at night on specific spots depending on what type of train your in and what stations .....you can either get pushed while the train comes on purpose ........alot of people these days take the newer ones with the side seats ....but yea .....i like the LIRR though ...it has comfy seats happy.gif and its a double decker . the MTA should really have a renovation project coming soon , hopefully they would have enough funds .....but hah ....it would seem that would take a 53253523 years.

ooo and it seems that i might take the train when i go to school at boston ... i would liek that

and another good thing about the Boston subways: some of the tunnels aren't that deep, so if you fall in, you can step out :)

i've never been on the LIRR before. i'd like to though.

and the MTA should really have the money to renovate the train stations.. isn't $2 per ride one of the most expensive in the US? in Boston, it was like $1.25..

i really hate the 59th and Colombus Circle stop.. it's curved and smells really bad some days.. and the 7 trains are really crappy. and so are the some of the above-ground stops..

i love boston i love trains... and i love subways... something about them makes me feel at home... weird... well i just love the city. i also went on a dinner train in Cape Cod that was cool went over a train bridge over the cannal before i had onlly seen the bridge go up for the big ships that run through the cannal... but it was cool going over it... cuz ur so close to the water its kinda creepy cuz its like over 100 years old er something but awesome at the same time. i also took a train though New Hampshire ... just over big train brigdes& through new hampshire it was nice and where we were sitting we were at the end of the train so you could go out and stand on the platform at the end of the train while u were moving... o andi went up mount washington on a train... i suppose i have alot of train stories... lol

I like the Toronto subway system. It's so much cleaner than what I was used to seeing in New York City. I guess I don't enjoy it that much since the niose bothers me. The metal rubbing on metal hurts my ears.

I'd really like to go on some trip around the country on one of those old-fashioned trains. I get nostalgic if I even see one.

I took the BART when I was in the Bay Area. It's actually quite nice. I remember going to NYC when I was five, but I don't remember taking the subway there. Hm. But I'd love to take trains in Europe. That would be really awesome.
I Shot JFK
i LOVE the London underground.

i dont understand why people dont like subways... i just feel comfortable there, there is always plenty to look at, nd a nice stranger to talk to. but dont take candy, it will turn out to be ecstacy.
radhikaeatsraman
^That's what I was talking about. I need to find someone to ride the London underground with. And the overground trains. (Is overground a word? Haha.)
I Shot JFK
if you ever come to england, i'l come up to london to meet you.
radhikaeatsraman
I have relatives in London. I will go. We shall meet at some dreadfully tourist-y spot because it's a good place to meet.

I take the subway all the time. I live in Queens, NY, so yeah. I take the 4 train (after transferring) to and from school sometimes, which is in the Bronx. Once, the station I was supposed to get off at on the 4 train was under construction, so I had to get off 10 blocks away, in ghetto Bronx. And then I had to walk to school. In flip flops.

I never been on a train...An under ground train would seem like it would be fun
oxbeautifultruthxo
The only type of train i've been on in my life is the zoo train and a train that was on top of a rail out in canada.
I've never been on an underground train. That would be kind of interesting.

Lol, same here. I only live about 15 minutes away from you. I used to go to school in "The Forest." XD.gif

Psh. I'm not even allowed to take a walk by myself in our neighborhood. So I don't take the Metro much, unless I'm going to the museums or something. Mostly my parents drive me places.

i hate them i feel boxed in
pinacoolada
The subway smells = [

never been on one. but there is a metro in los angeles. no one ever rides it though. i thought it was funny how in collateral they made it seem like people are actually on the metro sometimes. i couldn't stop laughing.
julianamon
i take the subway all the time, so i'm used to the dirtyness&smellyness&weirdpeopleness. the only good stops that i've been to would be like.. woodhaven; but at the top.. and like the timesquare stop; i think, i sorta cant remember.

yea 7 trains its very scary actually you could really fall off and drop down around places like astoria and i hate it when usually the train curves through the steel bridge ....i feel as though you could fall off the street on the bottom .....the LIRR is a very very smooth ride ....i usually take that and head straight to Penn Station since there is no need for me to take the subways anymore ..since its useless if you live in long island
