hmphh stubborn.gif always moved!... DEBATE TIME?! ANYONE?!?!!??

i think that before all living things existed, elements fused together creating the egg. thus in its hatching, which created the chicken, which in turn was bestowed with the divine power to produce the incredible, edible egg. ok. im just kidding.

to be honest i cannot answer that. XD.gif
kryogenix
Dinosaurs laid eggs way before there were chickens, so the egg came first.

^Man brings up a good point.

Egg. Because the egg can come from like a dinosaur, and as time passes, the egg can like transform into a chicken.

The chicken. This is because God created all animals in thier present form. Meaning God created the chicken, and from it came an egg. If you do not believe in creation, then the gentleman kryogenix is most definately correct.

^^ wow, i seriously never considered that, but when you do its a really good answers. i think im gonna have to agree.

but also, chickens could have evolved from another animal which over time created eggs? for some reason? so..whos to say...

Chicken and egg debate unscrambled
Egg came first, 'eggsperts' agree

The question has baffled scientists through the ages.

LONDON, England -- It's a question that has baffled scientists, academics and pub bores through the ages: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

Professor John Brookfield, a specialist in evolutionary genetics at the University of Nottingham, told the UK Press Association the pecking order was clear.

The living organism inside the eggshell would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into, he said.

"Therefore, the first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg," he added. "So, I would conclude that the egg came first."

The same conclusion was reached by his fellow "eggsperts" Professor David Papineau, of King's College London, and poultry farmer Charles Bourns.

Mr Papineau, an expert in the philosophy of science, agreed that the first chicken came from an egg and that proves there were chicken eggs before chickens.

He told PA people were mistaken if they argued that the mutant egg belonged to the "non-chicken" bird parents.

"I would argue it is a chicken egg if it has a chicken in it," he said.

"If a kangaroo laid an egg from which an ostrich hatched, that would surely be an ostrich egg, not a kangaroo egg."

Bourns, chairman of trade body Great British Chicken, said he was also firmly in the pro-egg camp.

He said: "Eggs were around long before the first chicken arrived. Of course, they may not have been chicken eggs as we see them today, but they were eggs."

The debate, which may come as a relief to those with argumentative relatives, was organized by Disney to promote the release of the film "Chicken Little" on DVD.

i think the chicken came first, because in the bible it says God created all the animals, and i dont think there wasnt a wombfor babies to grow in...

yes, i agree. it depends on what you believe in.

personally, i think it's the chicken because God created all animals.
ima_fake_
i think its the egg... not to offend anyone but i dont beleive in god or the bible soo i dont beleive in creation. so the egg came first and then the chicken. hope people dont hate me for saying that. its my opinion and im entitled to it.

Well then which came first? The dinosaur or the egg? ph34r.gif

In order for the first chicken egg to have been a chicken egg as opposed to a different egg, it must have had a chicken within it. Otherwise, it would just been another dinosaur egg. Thus, it would have only been a chicken egg when the chicken was developing inside, and thus:

A: The chicken and the egg came at one simultaneous moment.

Kryo, I think the question refers to chicken eggs. If not, then your answer is right.

I believe that God created all things, but I also think that God created the dinosaurs before he created chickens. So it's not impossible that dinosaurs laid eggs before God created the chicken.

i think the chicken elvoled from something else and then laid the first chicken egg

The Chicken! How did the Egg come if a Chicken didn't lay it? The Chicken dropped from the sky.

Chicken. I say chicken.

the microorganism came first, which evolved into a dinosaur version of a chicken which evolved to eventually the chicken which bore the egg

^ I agree with this

If the dinosaur laid the egg, wouldn't it have been destroyed when the meteor came and destroyed all the dinosaurs? o_O

I'm going to have to agree with this:

Please come back to us. cry.gif

And yes, the dinosaur's egg was destroyed, but it was essentially first, which is the point of his argument. However, that's not really what we're debating, which is whether the chicken's egg came before the actual chicken. I think his comment was meant more in humor.

For the sake of the argument, I agree with the argument that the chicken came to be (through evolution or creation, whichever you want to believe) and bore the egg.

The chicken. I'm saying that cause that's what the Bible says. :D

The chicken v. egg debate was initiated by the government in order to divert our attention away from more important issues, such as humanitarian crises and the war in Iraq.

Ok I used to belive in god and stuff now I am not real sure what I belive in I am kinda in the middle of the god and the evolved thing....

That being said there really can not be one without the other so which came first....

Well in oreder to be a chicken you have to have an egg BUT look at it this way to we all came from an " EGG " soooo there had to be humans right in order to make more and get that egg lol so it has to be the Chicken...

Wow did I confuse everyone like I did myself wacko.gif wacko.gif

femmefatale4160
Chicken. End of story. God created all animals, in my opinion, BUT--if you don't believe in that, chickens evolved from lizards, so the chicken still came first. The question is not about ANY eggs, such as dinosaur eggs *cough*kryogenix*cough* It's about a CHICKEN egg coming before or after a CHICKEN.

Chicken first. The end.

the chicken came first, but i am sorry to ask, why does it have wings if it dont fly?
voguelove
i think the egg. and then evolution slowly took place. you need the egg before the evolution, correct? if the chicken went through evolution..it's not it can teach itself to pop out a new egg.
-DressYourEyelids-
if you ask me, neither came first. they both arrived at the same time in the space ship that thor sent from heaven.

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard, smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smirk on his face. The egg, looking pissed off, grabs the sheet and rolls over, and says, "Well, it looks like we answered that question!"

The egg came first.

If the debate was "Which came first, the chicken or it's egg?", then the answer would be the chicken.

I'd have to say the chicken. The chicken is probably some spontaneaous mutation of some other bird.

Not "spontaneous", but the chicken is likely a cross-breed of the red and grey junglefowl.
