so what i do is watch tv for like 3 hrs straight..which i stop at 2am..and then i get tired...and i fall asleep in 10mins
sprezzatura
Read a boring book, the really boring type, maybe your textbook or anything of that sort.
xcaitlinx
once in a while it takes me a while to go to sleep. usually it's because im constantly thinking of things im gunna do the next day and i can't relax.
clarity

that happens to me.
a few reasons that keep me from staying up;
- i've had caffine that day
- i have my heart set on something or something exciting is comming up (like if i'm going on a vacation/concert the next day )
- i'm stressed
- drama is occuring
- i didn't excersice
- i didn't eat
- i'm thinking about plans and excited to start them
- i'm scared
or
- i'm thinking about stuff that happened that day.

i don't know if this is true.. but theres a medicine that can help.
or else try to not drink caffine.
avoid drama which will help with stress.
excersice, it wears you out.
eat, if your hungry.
try to think of something else other then upcomming plans etc.
turn on a light if your scared.
try to think of something other than what had happened that day.

another thing you can do is listen to peacefull music, for example i listen to a beach sountrack.
it soothes me and really helps. wow this was long, and i hope it helps.
iminlovewithTomDelonge
same here. nothing's wrong with you. a lot of people have it.

just read a book or something. that usually helps me fall asleep.
PrincessAda
Happens to me too..I have a lot of things on my mind..sometimes I just like to think about things and then I fall asleep.or you can watch tv.

I listen to relaxing music to fall asleep. Try picking some new age music or some nature sounds.

I think why it works is because it distracts you from all the thoughts running through your head, but it doesn't have loud music or lyrics to keep you focused on that, preventing you from falling asleep.

If that doesn't work, and this continues for a really long time, yeah. Talk to your doctor.
pinayprincess
lol; what you should do is drink milk [sounds baby-ish] but it works sometimes.... QUESTION: what time do you normally sleep?
kimberlyx012
yeah i have the same problem but i found it helps alot if you exercise at least once during the day, like go for a walk or something, and dont go on the computer right before you go to bed cause it keeps your mind like active, and dont eat or drink anything with chocolate or caffein or anything really sugary before you go to bed either
hope it helps _smile.gif

i kinda still have sleeping problem... eh. the pills dont work sometimes.. but at sometimes im knocked out.

i have sleeping problem too...and it takes me a long time to sleep....

Maybe you're thinking too much about things, if your mind can't concentrate on sleep, then you probably won't get any. Or you could have caffeine keeping you up. If you drink coffee or soda, or any caffeine drinks after 12-1pm or before bedtime, that could be what's keeping you awake.
Try turning off any tv, noise, light, anything that would distract you from the dark [HAHA] and concentrate on breathing & keeping your eyes closed. To me, the breathing reminds me of those gas mask things they put on you to make you sleep @ the hospital, and it makes me sleepy just thinking about it.
But maybe I'm just a dumba**.
IDK does any of this sound like you?

I have that problem too, and my friend told me part of the reason why a few months ago when she had a psychology textbook lol. It's because you're thinking too much, mainly. Your body can't relax, in order for the body to sleep it must be relaxed. It happens to me.. I always think about the future and I never get any sleep cus my body can't relax since I'm always moving around in bed. It also helps to not eat anything 2-3 hours before you go to bed. Try not to drink anything right before you sleep cus it might wake you up during your sleep and mess up some hours.

But anyways, I don't really follow those things I just said lol. I try to, but it just doesn't happen. I sometimes find myself sleeping at 5-5:30 AM, when that happens I set my alarm to 12 PM so I don't wake up too late and end up staying up later the next night. It can also help if you go to bed and you're extremely exhausted. Sometimes I play basketball for a long time and when I come home I'm tired as hell.. so I sometimes fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed. Hope I helped. happy.gif

DONT THINK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN'T FALL ASLEEP WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO FALL ASLEEP. insted, let your mind wander. plan the day (or weekend) ahead of you.
i usually think about how my life would be if i had my own reality show like Laguna Beach, (it's lame, i know, rolleyes.gif but it works! haha) and i think of every possible "dramatic" thing that could happen to me until i fall asleep sleeping.gif

oh! and when i went to the doctor, (i had the same problem) she said not to eat any full meals before bed and to play sports during the day!
nyctophiliac
maybe you're an insomniac

Maybe it wasn't Brie Susan was talking about. blink.gif I completely forgot about this topic.

I really can't tell if I have it. When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep... and you're never really awake.
xXYouMeBedNowXx
Sometimes. Then I run around with my head down really really fast. If I'm lucky, I'll find a wall and go straight to sleep.
iDecay
Nope.. Well, maybe I do. I don't know! *rips hair out*

I know this is a random topic, but I noticed that VH1 has this block of music videos at three in the morning, and they call it "Insomnia Theatre" or something like that.

VH1 is awesome. _smile.gif

I don't suffer from insomnia, and I don't think I'll become one. Or at least I hope so. _unsure.gif

You probably just have way too much on your mind. Try clearing your head, and just read a book or something.

I have problems in sleeping most of the time. Actually, I think it's because am going through a divorce..and I just feel very uncomfortable. That's why I bought SLEEP TEA, which is a relaxant, at http://www.drugdelivery.ca, a very good online pharmacy. Anyways, I really find it difficult to have sleep. It's like am sleeping eyes open..but well, the sleep tea is really soothing my tensed nerves, and I really hope it will help me more soon.. I have just started taking it, 1 week back actually, and basically it does take some time to show some effects. Well, wish you all a sound sleep..I wonder what is waiting for me tonight..gosh, dont want to go through one more sleepless night.. cry.gif

I don't have any /official/ problems, but the thing is, I don't usually get properly tired 'till 6/7 am! And then I wake up 3 hours later. This is bad, I know, I've tried Teas, Pills, my immune system just won't accept sleep...=/
Well i guess it's good I'm up 'till 5 am 'cause that's around 11 pm for most of you cBers. happy.gif
