I've loved them since their Total Immortal days. Ahh. Davey and I share a love for JTHM. But that was back when they were cool.

my opinion is.....that i hate them

They're annoying now. I used to kindof like them, but not anymore. My friend is like.. the BIGGEST fan alive. Ever. And isn't the title to be capitalized since its an acronym for A Fire Inside? Because when I saw this, I thought you were talking about American Film something.

i laugh at them. because i loved them for about 4 years before sing the sorrow. and then i saw them. during their sing the sorrow tour. just because they were in maine and ... well. i'd loved them and never seen them.

i'll just say that...davey is completely horrifying in person. when you're a foot away from him. and he sweats more than the average man trying to be trapped in a woman's body with pink glitter pouring off his face.

their little act gets real old real quick. and...they just seem like such a parody of a bad emogothpunk band (which is mindnumbingly lame anyway). a joke, really.

but, i admit, every now and then. like, once a year. i find a tiny little soft spot in my heart for them.

then i laugh until i pee.

I haven't really heard anything from them besides "Miss Murder", but, I do love that song. =]

Uhm. I don't know how many concerts you actually attend, but performing nonstop for an hour or so is quite the workout for many of them. In fact, 95% of the time, they sweat. It might seem shocking, but's true - not as uncommon as you think.

Well I don't know about the emo and goth thing, since that's only since Sing the Sorrow, but I wouldn't call it a facade, considering they've actually been a good band since 1991. Just in case you didn't know. Oh my Allah I'm defending AFI.

i know that. (about the sweating). but, that mixed with his face in general. is just horrifying. especially when he's trying so hard to make himself seem serious. to make people take him seriously.

A lot of bands just want to be taken "seriously." I don't know, it's like a dream of theirs or something. They all want to make it big... want to make that defining, innovative sound. You don't look back at Metallica and Black Sabbath and call them a bunch of lame-os. I doubt that made any sense.

actually, i do look back at metallica and call them lame. i hate metallica. and i always have. black sabbath, not so much.

but, anyway. part of me DOES respect afi. for...being what they are. they are good at that...being whatever it is they are. but, when comparing their music, lyrics, image, etc to other bands and...people in general. they come out looking like complete cartoons or parodies, like i said before. they're so. kitschy. before their time to be...kitschy has come. and that's not a good thing, in my opinion.


also! i don't think afi has ever strived for a "definitive" or "innovative" sound, seeing as how practically anyone can name their major influences immediately after listening to a selection of songs from each album. or looking an array of band photos.

they're a good band...just a little to weird for me...like the lead singer, his hair creeps me out. im not into bands like that, but im not saying their music sucks.
