im oh so very sorry if theres a thread about this alreadym but um ya, whats you opinion on spankin children as a form of discipline? right..or wrong?

well, if i had a child, i would only spank him/her if she/he did something very wrong. but generally, i wouldn't spank children. there's better punishment for that.

Its fine as long as it's not in excess, or brutal. Then it would be child abuse

agreed. although i don't think that i would have the heart to spank a child anyway. (even if they did do somthing bad) there are alternatives to teach them lessons.

I don't want to spank my children, because I hated getting spanked as a kid. However, I don't think I wont spank them -- I've hit my niece before, so... meh.

I don't think it's really wrong, I guess, unless, like Jackie said, it's brutal or excessive.

I was spanked when I did something wrong. after I was spanked I never did the wrong thing again. I believe that if it's not excessive...it's ok.....as long as it's not with something that could damage the child

Like everyone said, it's okay to a certain point. I was never really spanked so I think there are plenty of ways to discipline your children without having to spank them.

Depends on how hard you spank and how often. It's okay if you do it once in awhile when they do something REALLY bad but I won't spank my children, there are other ways to discipline children. Most children HATE time-out. So instead of hitting them, give them a good time-out where they face the wall and stand there and be quiet for a period of time.

I use to get hit with a leather belt..

but if you spank your kids with your hand I don't find it that wrong, but something worse than that. Then well yea.

I think spanking children is kinda wrong because what if the parent gets over obsessed with giving their child a good beating then hits the child for no reason?Because children can be very annoying and sometimes yes they do need a good smack.But like to be hit i think its just kinda wrong.Maybe a hard thwack on the butt will do.

-But like to hit a baby its just horrible especially when some parents cant handle children so they shake them or beat them to death if they cry.It makes me cry because me especially hate to hear a baby cry.

-Anyway on topic though,i say 75% wrong and 25% right.

There are other ways to disipline a child,like make them sit on there hands on the floor or like make them stand in a corner for like a hour with no juice or the good spoilish things parents would normally do out of the fact of being a good parent ^__^ i think we all can agree that spanking a child really bad is overally wrong but to do it once in like a long while then yea its ok.

My mother constantly tells me how the discipline she gave my brother when he was growing up was so effective.

He liked to kick random women on the streets, and it got so bad to a point where my mom just publicly beat him, half out of anger, half out of trying to embarass him.

He never kicked anyone ever again.

Sometimes spanking is the only thing that'll work. And in moderation, I think it's okay to use it.
