When I try to save this picture to a .gif from a .psd (photoshop) it becomes all grainy, but the one I have saved as a .png is crystal clear. should i change the resolution or something so when i save it to a .gif it doesnt become grainy?

--edit

GIF's are usually grainy. There really isn't anything you can do about that. Try saving it as a jpg
indpendantbeauty
jpg cant save animations. not all gif are grainy, most of my pictures saved as gif arent.
Gypsy Eyes
hmmm... I honestly have no idea then. Could you keep it as a png?
indpendantbeauty
whops, sp its .psd not .png

but anyways, saving it as a .psd wont work because im sure not many websites support it when i want to upload it.
Gypsy Eyes
oooohhh. That makes it a whole lot different. Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe try closing it and reloading it?

do you have CS2?

answer that and i can help you
(however, that image you showed has WAY too many colors, and that's why it's grainy like that, you shouldn't use so many colors and they turn out better)
indpendantbeauty
yes, i do have cs2
phoenixpyre
do ctrl+alt+shift+s IN PHOTOSHOP

and it will save animated gifs and you have a lot more control
indpendantbeauty
it is animated though, and if i open it on photoshop then it stops moving and is just like one layer
phoenixpyre
you have to go to Window>animation

or open it in imageready first and then transfer it to photoshop if it's still one frame
indpendantbeauty
i dont have that animation choice on photoshop, only on imageready

Don't optimize it. mellow.gif The more optimized it is, the grainier it will be. Less colours. You don't have a save for web feature? Because that gives you tons of control over the animation in Elements... And you can see how it looks.
phoenixpyre
if you have CS2
you CAN have an animation window in photoshop
indpendantbeauty
I have adobe photoshop cs2, and adobe imageready cs2.
I really dont have an animation window, or at least its not under windows.

fish-cake: I do have a save for wed feature on photoshop, but not on imageready
talcumpowder
Chose .gif filetype and it should give you an animation checkbox. I don't have CS2, so I'm not entirely sure on this. Check it and then play around until it looks good.
