I honestly don't know where this would go but I considered since it's about a book, it should go in books. If there's a topic on this already, I'm sorry. I check the Lounge and Entertainment.

Anyway, JKRowling announced that she definitely has two character deaths in the seventh book but it wouldn't be Harry.

Rowling has already said that the final chapter of the seventh book was written long ago.

"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly," she said in an interview broadcast on Monday on Britain's Channel 4. "One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die."

When asked to be more specific, she added: "No, I'm not going to commit myself, because I don't want the hate mail or anything else."

She did explain that she understood an author's desire to kill off the main character of a successful series.

"I've never been tempted to kill him (Harry) off before the end of book seven, because I always planned seven books and that's where I want to go.

"I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks 'Well, I'm going to kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels ... so it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."

Rowling, 40, wrote the first Harry Potter adventure when she was an unemployed single mother, but has gone on to become one of the richest authors in history with a personal fortune estimated at more than $1 billion.

The Harry Potter series has sold an estimated 300 million copies worldwide.

who do you think it would be? i really don't want ron or hermione to die (even though hermione dying would put an end to harry/hermione shippers - sorry). i think rowling would probably kill of a weasley or something. i don't want ginny to die because well, i really like the idea of harry and ginny together.

i really feel like such a loser for being so obsessed with harry potter.

Being obsesessed with Harry Potter doesn't make you a loser. It makes you normal.

Hey, never be ashamed of the Harry Potter love.

Killing off Dumbledore was pretty bad, I don't see how it could get worse. Ron and Hermione...sure they're his friends, but I don't really care about them. *shrugs*

they're gonna kill off two main characters?!

i couldn't even bear it when sirius and dumbledore died!

i'm thinking ron (or one of the weasleys) is going to be one of them. i dont know why, but it makes sense to me.

im thinking definately hagrid, and potentially ginny? although ron is a distinct possiblity. the twins too... probably magonagal?

i refuse to acknowledge the potentil for hermione to go.

For some reason, I'm thinking Ron and Hermoine make it alive. I think it's quite possible that Harry will die (considering that whole prophecy thing and that Voldemort won't be able to die unless Harry does... something like that). I don't consider Ginny a main character and it would be odd for Hagrid to die.

As sad as it would be, it almost makes poetic sense for Lupin to die, considering that he is the last of the friends (James, Lily, Sirius). Although I was hoping to see a bit more Tonks/Lupin play.

This could also be a red herring, Rowling can do that.

All this Snape business... I still think there's more to his killing of Dumbledore than that of him doing Lord Voldemort's bidding (and that damn curse that made him promise to protect Malfoy).

i STILL say that snape isnt evil.

and i STILL say that harry is the sixth horcrux. and he will ultimately have to die in orde rto destroy voldemort.

and to be honest, i agree with rebecca... i can see ron and hermione being the happy ending to balance harry's death. which i realize isnt what rebecca said, bu ti meant that i dont think they will die

aww... thanks guys. i just felt weird being so... obsessed with it.

harry cannot be a horcrux because that doesn't make sense. why would voldemort continue to hunt him down and try to kill him if he's a horcrux?

btw, am i the only one who likes harry and ginny together?

the prophecy is that either voldemort kills harry or harry kills voldemort. only one of them can exist.

Ehh, I don't like Ginny that much, so I wouldn't mind if she died. I hope Ron and Hermione make it out alive, I liked them. But there is the strong possibility that Harry might die.

I didn't like the deaths of Sirius or Dumbledore.

at least two characters!? I'm going to cry again. It better not be Lupin! I have an odd love for Lupin.

The last book... its hard for me to deal with that.

I'm still not convinced with the Dumbledore death. I want him to be alive!!

I'm guessing Draco and Remus will die. And maybe Hagrid. But im probably wrong.

I have a feeling it's going to be malfoy and hagrid maybe? Harry as well, otherwise she would have to continue the series.

Man I hope it's nothing too tragic. I was sobbing during the last two books.

I hate Harry and Ginny together, only because I think Harry & Hermy should be together forever. I must say, I was COMPLETELY surprised at it though. My mouth was open for like, four pages afterwards.

Killing off Harry would be pretty sad. When she killed of Sirius and Dumbledore, I was literally bawling.

but then, jkrowling gave like a million interviews stating hermione and harry are strictly platonic, even if they might have had a crush on one another at a time. in fact, i remember a news article about how outraged harry/hermione shippers were when jkrolwing gave an interview with a fansite and she stated at she was baffled at how harry/hermione shippers believed that h/hr were still to be together even when she said a million times they weren't.

although, daniel radcliffe and emma watson are quite cute together.

I think sirius is coming back. and then hell prolly really die haha. AndI bet snape or malfoy will die, but not both. And I hope ginny dies. shes annoying lol. And one of the two friends will proly die, but i dont think so because of all the romance built between them. And i'm thinking she won't kill harry becauseshe said shes thinking about throwing an 8th book in years later to tell the where are they now story. who knows. but speculating about it turns my stomach. so lame I am!!

I thought the release date being 07/07/07 was only a rumor. Anywho, I think one person who may die is Lupin, seeing as others closest to him also die (Sirius and Dumbledore). BUT, I just have a feeling that Ron and Hermione won't be killed off.

I'd be much happier if Harry and Hermione were together. I think the deaths of such characters make the story that much more interesting. Of course, I really wish they weren't killed off, but it's interesting to see what happens now.

I think it might be snape and lupin. Or snape and voldemort and the book will be happy.

Or a Weasley and Voldemort and Snape is imprisoned in Azkaban. Oh wait, Azkaban was abandoned when the dementors joined allegience with Voldemort.

I cant wait til the book comes out. Im hella sad that there won't be another one after it though.

This book better be 3,000 pages long.

I really doubt that the book will be out on 07/07/07. I've heard that it's only a rumour. And I'm quite sure that I've read some HP fansites that have stated that JK Rowling has not given out the specific date in which the seventh book will be out. Also, didn't JK Rowling say in an interview that she would start writing the seventh book at the beginning of 2006, due to her busy lifestyle? Like, she's already written the last chapter, and knows exactly what's going to happen, who's going to be killed, etc., but she didn't start writing the actual seventh book until January 2006. Would the seventh book be out just after a year and a couple of months? Hm. I donno. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hm, about the 2 main characters dying : (, I think that one of the characters must be Voldemort. I've just always believed that : /. Would JK end the series with Voldy still alive and all the witches and wizards under his control? I also thought that Harry may die, although I'm not happy about that : (.

At an HP RP board I'm on we've been trying to decide who they are. We're pretty sure one of them is Voldie, or most of us think so. We at first thought Harry too, but that's too obvious. Now we're starting to think that someone's going to die for someone like Lily died for Harry.

Even though I don't care much for Ron, I'd hate for her to kill him off. I don't think Mrs. Weasly would be able to deal with it. I love the Weaslys (in general) and it would break my heart too.

So two characters she didn't expect to die will die and one has been reprieved from death.

thats a good point, actually. if she didnt EXPECT them to die, then maybe they arent that major.

and there will be more than two deatsh, presumably.

a few weasley's, for sure. im thinking fred and george, but that thought leads to depression, so we'll box that up with the bad feelings.

and i do thinki ginny will go. whihc is a shame, speaking as a major harry/ginny shipper.
