I recently posted about my break up..I think it is due to him having depression or some kind of anger disorder? Does anyone know anything about any kind of disorder like this?

Here are his symptoms:
-Mood changes-FAST
-Always upset for a reason he swears he does not know
-Quiet, doesn't joke much anymore
-says he still loves me but he just isnt happy
-Overall DIFFERENT

Well let me know what y'all think...

Thanks in advance!

Sudden personality change is often a sign of some sort of psychological disorder, but with the symptoms you gave, it's hard—almost impossible, in fact—to give a real diagnosis. I've studied psychology in some detail, and I have three very good friends who major in psychology (one currently holds a degree in psychology, in fact); I also have two good friends who both suffer from manic depression, but it's very hard to give any diagnosis with what you gave.

You say his mood changes, but how fast? The mood changes associated with bipolarism don't happen on a daily basis, for example.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of depression. A lot of teens suffer from bouts of sadness. School is hard, social lives can be stressful, and on top of that, teens are going through major hormonal changes that can affect their moods. It may not be depression—it may just be adolescence. _smile.gif

But again, it's hard to say. I don't think we have any psychologists or psychiatrists on cB, so it'll probably be hard for anyone to give a really accurate answer to your question.

Theres symptoms listed there for depression. But also if he just went through a break-up or something. More than likely that's the reason and eventually he'll move on. Takes time.

Well, he could be depressed, but it may not be manic or very serious. He could just be in a bit of a slump. He could also be dealing with something outside of you two, something at home, something at school, with a friend, with his family. Maybe he's depressed because he did something he feels guilty for. Or he could feel depressed because he feels he can't make you happy anymore. That kills a guy, and often kills a relationship.
