i hate choosing.
You don't necessarily need to know what you want in life to know what you want to be. Maybe a leap year is good for you. I'm not sure if "leap year" is the right phrase for it, but it means taking a break for a year before college to really find what's right for you. That could be through internships, travel, etc. Of course, you have to make something out of that year instead of just procrastinating.

It's a
gap year.
Leap year is an extra day added in February every 4 years to correspond with the earth's motion around the sun in the u.s. calendar

Oh Loooord! I
knew there was another word. I knew what a leap year was (my brother was born on February 29th, the lucky kid), but it was the only thing that made sense to me at the time. Thanks for correcting me.

Anyone know a good place to get an education in business?
Just wondering. I took a career assessment thing at school, and a lot of the recommended jobs involved business schooling.

There's a business and finance high school near my area. But I'm not sure you'd want to move all the way from there to attend.

Music education, possibly? Being a music major would be so much fun, and it's less stressful - you work at your own pace, rather. Except, that's kinda the thing with me. Music is really all skill-based rather than memorization. I'm afraid I just won't have the skills.
Perhaps a minor wouldn't hurt...

Feb 13 2007, 04:48 PM
No, not education. Unfortunately, I can't stand teaching. I'm looking into production, music administration, which is a growing field in need of more people who understand both music and business, and other fields like this in the music industry. I know for certain that I'll keep composing though.
I'm kind of stuck between going into modern, popular music, or sticking to classical music.

HakunaMatata
Feb 19 2007, 08:45 PM
VeterinariansOkay, you need to finish an undergrad program to get in, and a couple require a bachelor's degree. After finishing the Undergard or Bachelor's program, then it takes another four years to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at a univeristy accredited by
AVMA. Hard work and quite a few years of high-level education, but there's a very high job outlook and very good salary.

I'm so confused when it comes to college and deciding on a major.
Possible options:
- Oncologist (would make the biggest impact, and i'd be helping people. it would give my life more purpose)
- Cardiologist (same as above)
- Photography (my passion... doesnt pay well at all though)
- Web Design (another passion)
- Engineering (what my dad wants me to do lol)
- International affairs / foriegn relations
- German language/culture
- Stay at home mommy/housewife. (easiest option)
Oncology, Cardiology, or Engineering are my top 3, but I'm worried that it would be too hard to get through school. I'd be looking at 8 years ++ for Medical school. Engineering wouldnt be too bad though. I'm just so lazy... I cant see myself doing anything.

Woah, its only been a few months... and I've already changed my mind. Completely.
Revised plan:
- Nursing (at least a bachelors degree). Possibly a oncology nurse?
- Engineering
- Buisness (more realistic - but seems boring?)
Eeek I need help/ideas/suggestions.
My Cinderella.
Mar 19 2007, 05:10 PM
It depends what you wanna do. What would you feel more happier doing? Helping doctors save and help lives, helping the community or have an boring job with good pay?

Yeah, it is. That's originally what I wanted to do, until I realized how rough the pay can be. It seems almost impossible to make a decent living off it.

Well, something like buisness would definately be the easiest option for me, especially getting through school. I've always been good at math and with computers. But, I know I could
never handle sitting behind a desk all day at work. I'd go insane. I think I'd have to have a job that's unpredictable; you know, something that wouldnt be boring.
So that's why I've been considering nursing. It pays REALLY well...and, I
think I'm the caring, motherly type by nature. AND, I'd be helping people. That's the best part. I'd love to specialize in something. Maybe Oncology? Seeing people with cancer hits me harder than anything else. I hate to see people suffer, but I would love to be able to brighten up someones day, and help them. I just can't imagine how I'd feel / react when a patient I knew passed away. So because of that, I dont think I could handle oncology, or any other type of nursing.

It was kind of disappointing, i learned nothing.

I went to my local extremely small town newspaper and the guy kind of didn't really know what to do with us. He didn't have anything planned. Once he even said "hmm, what to doo" and he had us sit in a room while he checked his email. :\

"Certain" being the key word here. There are countless successful people who didn't go to college. Instead, they used their talents/skills and made something out of it by working hard and staying determined. That doesn't always equate to going to college.
