Stuck in an elevator
Why won't it move?
Stuck in a place
Derogating my conscious
Paranoia in a box
Caged me in this floor
Why won't it go down?
Why won't it go up?

Clawing the box to find a way out
Insanity devouring my mind
These ghastly thoughts of escape
So futile so inevitable

Won't anyone come down for me?
Save me from the depths of this building?
This tall building holding the wire
To the box of pandora caging my hopes
Cut the wire with your blade
Free from this inferno of loneliness

Darkness frayed my skin
Wrinkling in the density of my tears
Aging by the minute stuck in this elevator

I press the buttons
Nothing opens
I cry for help
no one comes

Lost in a city so small
In a box so big
Filled with shadows of wariness
Wary of being there
Stuck in the elevator.
illumineering

There are times when isolation invokes images of paranoia. This work masterfully addresses the frailty of the human psyche when pushed to its limits. I'm reminded of Wynona Rider in the movie Girl, Interrupted when I read this.
