What's the point in wearing makeup? So a guy will fall in love with a face that's not you're 'real' face? Sorry and no offense to those who wear makeup, I mean that's your choice. But to me, what's the point? Why do you have to spend some more 10 minutes every morning putting on a fake face face that insn't you're real face? I guess natural makeup is OK, but bright eyeshadow? Pink, purple, green, blue? Why? You guys look pretty the way you are. To me makeup should be worn for only the following:

- On stage [I'm a dancer, and if you don't have makeup on stage, your face will be WHITE.]
- Covering up pimples.
- Halloween
- Dress up

That's basically it. I AM NOT DISSING ANYONE WHO WEARS MAKEUP. I just want to know the answer to this simple question: So why do you girls who wear makeup, well, wear makeup?

I agree, I'm eighteen and never have I ever touched any sort of makeup. I've been natural all of my life and I just don't see the reason why girls spend some much money, so much time, and so much EFFORT into hiding your true identity. Who are you underneath all of that excess goo? No one will never know because you'll never allow them to see it.

Hey, I'm with you, haha, last time I wore anything resembling make-up was for halloween when I was like... 6 ... Besides the occasional glitter when I was 12... I don't see the point in it. I agree with you, it's a "Fake Face"

geez does it really even matter? i mean so what girls? want to wear makeup TO LOOK NICE. there are SOME guys out there who do appreciate girls who fix themselves up a little to look nice it does mean you care about them and not walk around looking like you just got out of bed. the way you said really truly offended me i kno you did it to be curious but all you had to ask is "why do girls wear makeup" you didnt have to go that far and say "fake Faced" i wear make up sometimes and its a fact that guys like me without makeup and think its cool that i get all fixed up for them.

I think those fancy eyeshadow colors are cool matches when ever i do my hair diffrent colors i go wild.

Nope. I wouldn't roam around naked. We were just raised with clothing on our backs and our body parts are very uhm, private. I don't know the origins of clothing, but if you do, tell me.

Perhaps makeup is the same. I, too, do know why women wear makeup but I do agree that it makes them look better.

I love wearing makeup I dont wear bright extravagent but foundation and light skin tone that compliments my eyes lol I dont think nessesarily make up is to get guys i wear it cause i get confident with it on Im not confident with my face and when i walk out of my house putting the blemishes on lookin the way I look, im happy :]

Makeup is not the same. We weren't raised to wear makeup. Wow. This can go into another topic. Who invented makeup? Anyways, there are millions of reasons why women wear makeup not just one. If your answer to 'Why women wear makeup?' is to look beautiful then you're wrong. If I want to look beautiful, I would wear no makeup. Because being beautiful, is being yourself.

You know it's really peoples own taste. It's just what they feel liks doing. There is only opinions on why [girls] wear make-up. You can't ask what's the point in wearing it. Sure you say people look better natural and that's your opinion. But for others they just want too. That's just the whole point. Nobody can make someone wear make-up it's because they want to. And for clothing you have to wear it and if you ask why most people like to wear the colors they do and say i don't see the point in it then it's your opinion. cuz it maximizes my assests. It compliments my lips, high lights my cheeck dones, and slims my face down. Its also makes my lashes lok super long and accents the shape of my eyes. And colored eye shadow? Well the same reason you wear hot pink or purple instead of all black all the time. Or all natural colored clothes. Because its nice to look at. Plain works but its working sometimes. And not always the most flattering. Sure our bodies are supposed to be beautiful, but dont you have that one dress or shirt that makes you look FABULOUS?? The one you would wear if you had to me your celebrity crush or something? Same thing with makeup. Sure we look fine plain how we are, but its loke wow, your eyes looks amazing, or your lips are to die for. It adds that oomph. And its fun.

I don't think women wear makeup to hide thier "real" face... I think it's more about experimenting with your look, enhancing your features, having fun. For some, it may give them confidence and help them to feel better about themselves but for others, it's just like wearing stylish clothing or funky accessories... just to play up your look.

If makeup were not able to make a women beautiful, then why would people wear it? Yeah, I also think it is sort of superficial and women are beautiful without it, but I honestly don't see a real big problem with it. Not all of American is drop dead gorgous and when you meet new people, they don't know the "real" you, therefore what your appearance will tend to show others who you are.

I think girls wear make up because it makes them feel good.Because there are a lot of people in this world who think there is no natural beauty in them and they use make up to "make them seem good looking"

I personally think that you're too biased against it. It's true that I've never touched makeup in the 17 years of existence, and you've probably worn more makeup than I ever have. It's kind of like, you ask a girl why they wear makeup, and I ask you why are you covering up your pimples? It's the same concept.

women who don't wear makeup and still look pretty is a plus for me. I don't mind some make up on women if she doesn't over do it. I think the purpose of wearing makeup is just like the purpose of wearing jewerly. Its for fashion purposes i guess.

Makeup just enhances your beauty

It only takes me five minutes to put on makeup. And I don't wear bright, flashy colors. I think my makeup is really, really subtle.

i wear make up to highlight what i already have. like i put on blush to highlight my cheekbones or mascara to lengthen my eyelashes. i'm not putting on a "fake face." girls sometimes want to look good for guys, and others (like me) just like to feel pretty. i know that sounds all girly girlish, but that's what it is. and when girls feel like they look good, they are confident and in a better mood. like someone else said look good=feel good.

Okay .. let me put it another way. There are certain colors that contrast well with your skin tone or eye color, face structure, hair color, lips, etc. You can bring out your natural physical features with a touch of color. If you don't want to wear makeup, fine. Some people actually look better with makeup, but I think makeup really works wonders. Especially with celebrities.

yeah we mimick(sp?) what animals do to find healthy mates. if you have pink cheeks it means you have blood in your cheeks. when you're ready to have a baby your lips are fuller and have more color. when you put on mascara/eyeliner your eyes look wider and healthier. with animals if one isn't healthy no other animal will mate with it b/c they don't want they're babies to have a genetic disease.

is there anything wrong with wearing makeup? i mean...a girl that wears WAY too much makeup..yeah i understand where your coming from. but still...theres nothing wrong with makeup. its fun and makes people feel happy. the only reason why i put on mascara is because i think its fun putting it on even though it makes no diffrence whether or not im wearing mascara. but serioulsy, makeup isnt bad and you can do beautiful things with makeup. its like art!

Not all girls were bright makeup.

Personally, I only wear makeup to school dances and fancy events. The only makeup i wear everyday is lip gloss...mine is not even a bright color.

also to emphasize my eyes..and to cover up some blemishes (because i have keratosis pilaris (sp?) and the sides of my face have red dots because of it)

The term fake face is a major exaggeration. Make up done properly is suppose to highlight/enhance your features - to make your beauty more noticable. Make done properly isn't caked on to the point that people can't tell what you look like without it. The girls you're talking about are doing their make wrong. Bright colors are for really dramatic looks like for stage or runway. Not for everyday use. Girls who use those ...are, again, doing their make up wrong.

Come on guys, she did say that she didn't mind a natural look. I'm assuming she means a natural enhanced look is fine. I think she's talking about girls who cake on the stuff when there's no point for it. But in their defense, all that bright eye shadow may be part of their look. It might compliment a shirt they're wearing, or some new hair color they're trying out. Like everyone else said, it's fun to experiment.

Most girls don't wear make up to get noticed by guys. Do you honestly think that guys fall in love with your "face"? How superficial and shallow. Let me enlighten you - people fall in love with your soul.

I wear make up because, for me, it's a way of self-expression. As someone else said, why do you wear clothes other than a plain T-shirt and jeans? Why do you go shopping for fancy clothes?

Make up enhances your features - that is if you know how to put it on properly, which some people don't.

I mostly agree with what everyone else has said.

My reasons:

- Confidence; I like walking out the door and feeling as though I look good.
- Making myself look presentable, as though I care about myself.
- I like experimenting with the different colors that look good on me and match with my clothes.


I think a girl who would cake on makeup and use those flashy colors might simply be insecure. She might be uncomfortable with her natural look and want to cover it up with tons of makeup to hide her real self. That's a self-esteem issue. But if not, perhaps the girl likes the way it looks on her and that's just her way of expressing herself. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't see a problem with girls wearing makeup to impress guys. It's their decision; let them do whatever they want. It will (or should) eventually come down to guys liking them for their personality anyway. If not, well... the guy is just plain shallow, and that's their problem.

i wear barely any makeup. the extent of it is just foundation and an eyelash curler. but only on special occasions do i wear more.
