Alright, I thought we might get a jump start on next year's policy topic, what do you guys think about it?

I listened to one round of policy debate at Emory, and my conclusion is: Just talk really, really fast.

Hahaha, well thats for state and stuff... its hard to catch most of it, most teams end up asking to view the others evidence (at least thats what I do )

National Ocean Policy?

That should be a shame to all debaters, policy or not.

What the heck is that supposed to mean?

See, back when I was a freshman, there were actually good policy topics like the oh-so-infamous nuclear weapons one.

YOU SPENT A YEAR DEBATING NATIONAL OCEAN POLICY!! That's such a mundane thing to debate! All the policy debaters in my district agree it was a horrible waste of time. That's why so many swithced to Ted Turner or LD.

Policy debate is a form of debate in high school that involves two teams of two people each yelling at each other really, really fast.

But the fact that we could debate it and debate it well still shows our merit

Its a very organized form of debate where you identify a problem in the status quo pertaining to the year's topic, show that not enough is currently being done, propose a plan to solve the problem and prove that your plan will work

hahaha: Fine. It shows tthe merit of the debaters, but it shows the national committee was pretty damn idiotic.

There's nothing I hate more than a mundane topic like that. My freshman year, we had an LD Topic of Limiting Free Expression to Protect Kids. It was horrible.
